It was a prediction when he said it, not an actual report.

The Bills went through 2 decades of questionable hire after hire, but then they hired Beane/McDermott. Now, they've been to the playoffs three out of four years.

Saying all that to say everything can change quickly.

That clears it up. Obviously no one told Deshaun that after 2 decades of failure there may be some light at the end of the tunnel, that would change everything.

Point is that things can change quickly with the right hire. There is absolutely no guarantee who he had in mind would improve things or even be hired.

That was a mistake by ownership to give him the impression that he would be "involved" in the process, but all he can do now is get over it or ask to be traded.

I understand this is acommon thing in basketball, but players in the NFL (even the great Tom Brady) will never wield that sort of power.

Re: NFL Off Topic

It also might take a wholesale ownership change like it did for the Bills to turn it around and that’s not something you can count on. - Knicks fan

Having been a fan of the Bills for nearly 30 years, I can say it was more of a cultural change than the death of Ralp Wilson that changed things.

Beane/McDermott have drafted well on both sides of the ball, not reached for too many players and hit a home run with Josh Allen.

The past regimes either drafted poorly or heavily to one side of the field.

Anyway, hopefully Watson can be moved or gets past his feelings being hurt.

Who changed the culture? The city of Buffalo?

The Pegulas didn't change the culture of the team, draft or sign the right players, though.
They made the hire, yes, but we can't say for certain that Wilson would be unable to as well.

The team was in need of a franchise QB (Josh Allen) and better drafting overall.

A change in ownership won't do anything for Houston, if they make the wrong hires (with or without DeShaun's input) or draft/sign poorly fitting players.
