I can't stand Jefferson, he is athletic but as far as having the intelligence to play the QB position that is a joke. He made due because LSU pounded the rock and he was able to make things happen every now and then with his legs. Being judged as a QB "someone who throws the ball", "Someone who reads the defense", and "someone who is the leader of the team". He is far far from fitting that bill. Lee showed he was a leader, the team WANTED to play behind him. There was much talk about the O-line not wanting Jefferson in the NC game, there is a reason for that.
While Lee was not amazing as a QB either, he also showed more promise than Jefferson. On top of getting the short stick getting thrown to the wolves his freshman year due to another screw up by (Ryan Perrilloux). He was thrown head first, fresh out of highschool in the SEC, basically minor league NFL. He throws a bunch of picks which lead him to a reputation that was hard for him to shake. But what people forgot quickly is he had one of the best freshman starts, throwing for 1,800 yards and 14 TDs.
He then is forced to sit behind Jefferson and watch, not because Jefferson was the better QB, because Jefferson was the better "athlete". Then Jefferson messes up again and gets in a fight forcing Les to throw in Lee. What does Lee do, come out and had a great season.
1,300 yards - 14 TDs - 62% - and here is the big one
3 INTS
Then low and behold Jefferson gets cleared to play. Slowly you can see them giving him more reps and removing Lee from the field more and more. Then Lee has a bad game against Alabama and he is pulled for the season basically. While being completely slighted at not even seeing the field in the National Championship game.
He deserves his shot he has been completely under judged and I truly see him as one of those hard working kids who will improve and become a possible starter in the NFL. Worst case be a solid back up, while Jefferson sits at home wishing!
