Clinton Portis produced without Shanahan. Hell the Redskins ran him into the ground. Every team knew he was gonna run without the threat of a passing game an he still produced. Portis was an elite back.

Ahem. Arguing with me is not going to do any good IMO. Not when the names Barry Sanders, Terell Davis, or Darren McFadden enter the conversation (of my own doing ). I refuse to see reason (homerism is over 9000!)!

Without TD, Elway wins no superbowls

Personally I agree with Jim, anytime you can plug and play a position and not notice a drop off you have to give credit to the system. Richardson is good don't get me wrong, but Darren McFadden impressed me more in college.
Part of the reason that I think he's underperformed. He followed that game with a 45-yard performance and only had one 100-yard game the rest of the season.

Re: Jim Brown & Trent Richardson Situation

If Jim Brown Says that Trent Richardson Is average then who are any of us to question that? Jim Brown is the Greatest back to ever play the game of Football I'm pretty sure he knows what he is talking about regardless of how large his ego is.

AP runs like a new version of Walter Payton which is what made/makes him truly special. Personally, I never got the sense i was watching a truly "special" runner when I watched Richardson at Bama.

Not all great athletes were good evaluators of talent *cough*Jordan*cough*

So if Jim Brown says Peyton Manning is a below average QB, we're supposed to take his word as gospel?

Unlike Richardson, Peyton has accomplishments that cannot be denied. He's dominated the league for well over a decade in terms of just absolutely destroying defenses when they KNEW the pass was coming.

I'd say his evalution is fine till Richardson proves otherwise.
