Re: Which Division is the best in the NFL?

Have to say:
1. NFC East- Every team has a storied rivalry with the other in this division. Plus, this year, it looks to be a very close race for division title.
2. NFC North- Packers and Bears share one of the NFL's best rivalries. The Bears look to compete this year, and with the emergence of the Lions, this is another close three way battle for division champion.
3. AFC North- The NFL's best rivalry IMO, the Steelers/Ravens, resides in the AFC North. Every team in this division had a top ten defense last year; three of its teams made the playoffs.

I don't think so.

Courtesy of advancednflstats.com (sample is 256 teams from '02 to '09):

The top four teams in net passing yards per attempt last season were Green Bay, New England, New Orleans, and New York. The former 3 teams went a combined 41-7 in the regular season and New York won the Super Bowl.

I still think it's the NFC East (surprised?). I think Dallas, Philly and NYG could beat any team in the league. The division has somewhat underperformed as of late (sans NYG), but you dont wanna see an East team on your schedule.

For me:
NFC East
NFC North
NFC South

After the Skins beat the Saints today, the East just got that much tougher. Im not saying the Skins are gonna be great, but they can be an 8-8 team that finishes 4th in the division.

That just proves that teams with great QBs can build a game plan around them and have a great amount of success. It does not show that every team needs to follow that model and teams that don't won't be good. Every team wants an elite QB and that's always been the case. But there are plenty of teams who have had success without one, and last year's 9ers is a perfect example. The Ravens are another, and the Jets two straight years to the AFCC game shows it as well.

Your stats aren't wrong, but they can't be used to say something like "the 9ers aren't going anywhere with Alex Smith"
