The call for the late hit out of bounds was not a foul.

RT @twlr3: was that a legal hit on Lee in Dallas game?

Re the hit on Sean Lee

The hit on Lee is an illegal blindside block. Lee is considered defenseless, which means you can't lower your head & hit in head/neck area

On a blindside block the player is defenseless and you can't lead with your helmet no matter where you hit him.

Exactly.

But, it's the NFL.

In not other league is there a bigger overreaction to games. Last week the Cowboys were SB favs, this week their 'ahh, typical Cowboys'. Same with a few other teams. Just the nature of the sport.

It's the 'ahh, typical Cowboys' that pisses some of us off. We keep waiting for some kind of turnaround and beating the defending Superbowl champs was a start, but the next week we get taken to the shed by the Seahawks? I don't see why that shouldn't make a fan angry.

To be honest, my reaction isn't that bad because I think the start of the game took a lot out of the guys. Felix Jones shouldn't be on this team anymore he really is out there trotting. If I see the same type of effort against TB, then I get angry.

It probably also helps that I didn't watch the game.

IMO, that's a clean de-cleater. Hit him square in the front, not the head, not a cut block, not from behind, not from the side. If that had happened to a 'hawk, I say the same thing. Even if Ward delivered it (and I hate him).

Tate could have been flagged for excessive celebration after the hit, though. And the call on that play was bogus for shoving Wilson.

But the hit itself? Lee got jacked up.

If the NFL fines or penalizes over that kind of block, just strip off the pads and strap on the flags. Jeez.

The problem is, it is dangerous. Rivers lost a whole year and maybe more off a hit just like that.

I don't think Tate had any malicious intent, it just happened. I think he will be fined.

Isnt there a rule against hitting defenseless defenders like this?
