Re: Greg Schiano 'cheap shot' question

Got off pretty light IMO compared to fines of $21k to people for illegal hits.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...ldown-conduct/

Quote:
This week, two Giants offensive linemen have been fined for their actions after the Bucs treated the kneeldown at the end of the game between the two teams as, shockingly, an actual football play.

According to the league office, center David Baas and guard Kevin Boothe each were fined $7,875. As we explained on Wednesday, Baas bashed his forearm into the head of Bucs linebacker Quincy Black, and Boothe rolled defensive end Adrian Clayborn over, WWE-style, and dropped a knee into his chest.

No fines were issued to the Buccaneers for treating the final play of the football game as, shockingly, an actual football play.
Striking people not even as part of a tackle or even relevant for the play should be grounds for losing the entire game check, if not warrant sitting for a game.

Yeah, that's what I just read about this guy.

Jerk

What about doing away with the kneel down?

I mean, if a guy that's probably the best coach in the NFL endorses him, I'm ok with him.

If he wins, who cares?

After some time Ive just accepted this as a lame act of desperation that we'll probably see again by the same team.

And lol at the vitriol on the Giants linemen following Mestevo's post. They were pissed; leading to that response. This wasn't them just deciding to go Mike Tyson randomly. Maybe Schiano should have been upset that no flag was thrown on that play to give him another go at it.
If it was a 50 point game then even if the defense forced a turnover then they still couldn't win. That would just be cheap as the offense is trying to end the game with a kneel down.

In a one possesion game if the defense forced a turnover then the game still could be won by either team.

Faking a kneel down and throwing would actually be illegal.

I like how the Broncos fired off the ball on Monday against the Victory Formation, and no one thought anything of it.

It would be interesting to hear what people would be saying if the Bucs did cause a fumble and recovered the ball... and gone on to win the game. My guess is that folks would still be debating the play, but I see Schiano getting more credit. Coaches are either goats or heros when they take risks with their play calling.

Re: Greg Schiano 'cheap shot' question

I just wanted chime in on people talking about injuries? Why is the chance of injury on the last play any greater than the first play?

If the offensive line came out on the first play and decided "Eh, the defense won't rush so I'll just go stand here," and the defense rushed, would it be just as bad.

If the game can still be won, as unlikely as it would be, then the first and last play are of equal importance. A kneel down is a play, and the defense should treat it as one. If a player gets hurt, well that is football. Players get hurt in football, and if they get hurt because they decided a football play should be treated as anything other, then it is their fault.
