Not letting the other team beat you more times should certainly be a reward when wins are equal. It's been this way in sports forever and ever. Not sure why it has to change suddenly.

If a team can be stop another team from beating them in the allotted time, both teams should be rewarded, just not as much as a win.

Even in the NHL where ties have been eliminated, teams are still rewarded half a win for going into overtime regardless of the result. In a win-loss system this simply cannot happen.

The tie is good for the league. I'd frankly like to see it more of it by eliminating sudden death and making OT a full 15 minute quarter of play. This adds another dimension to the NFL.

I think my least favorite aspect of American sports is that they completely neglect the draw. Two teams can never be equal. There MUST be a winner and a loser. It annoys me. The draw is not simply a wash, it is a meaningful result. Now in elimination tournaments (playoffs) you cannot have draws.
