Ray Lewis to Retire After Season

Hard to imagine an NFL without Ray Lewis. Easily one of the best to ever do it at the linebacker position.

EDIT: Didn't realize it was being discussed in the OT thread. Up to mods discretion whether or not they want to close it, but I would think his career deserves a thread.

This really sucks. He was always one of my favorites.

Father Time continues the greatest winning streak of all time. Gonna suck not having Ray Lewis on the field anymore as he's one of those guys you don't even have to be a Ravens fan to love and appreciate. Happy he was able to go out on his own terms though.

Truly one of the best to play the position. It was a little tough seeing him play the last couple years when his body was breaking down and he just wasn't as explosive as he used to be.

Re: Ray Lewis to Retire After Season

I want to start off by saying that he is easily a HOF'er and one of the best at that position. It's sad to him go, but it's obvious he's lost a few steps.

That said...

The Ravens, specifically Lewis and Suggs, are playing with a sense of urgency. Coming back from injuries weeks or months early. If a man could will a team to victory, it would be Lewis and Suggs.

So this isn't surprising. I think it was great timing.
