Gotta agree. The Jets are a bad team but that's relative to the other teams in the NFL. They still have a good Oline and decent running game, still have an above average defense, a head coach who knows how to call a defense, and a history against the Pats. The Pats also had Edleman as the best skill position on the field not named Tom Brady. This game was destined to be close... but I think Geno was also destined to have enough turnovers to give the Pats the win.

Aaron Dobson and Kimbrel Thompson were the only reason that game was close. Combined for 17 targets yet only 5 receptions. Meanwhile Edelman converted 13 of his 18 targets. Patriots are a passing team and they had the Jets beat on several deep balls that the rookies couldn't convert, routes in the red zone that they ran the wrong way. When and if Gronk and Danny Amendola are healthy this game probably wouldn't be that close.

Yeah, that's what I meant about Edleman being the best skilled position player out there not named Brady (I'd say Ridley underperformed also). My response to your post was agreement that the rain didn't have much to do with it. They were dropping passes before it started raining, and running wrong routes or misjudging passes all game. We knew going in what Brady's "weapons" would be so I expected it to be a close game, even though didn't think there was a real chance of them losing.
