    NFL 2K3 tips?

I love football, but I was never a big fan of Football video games.
After renting NFL 2K3 I'm having a blast playing online.
I'm having trouble on defense, I can't seem to stop anyone. usually 2 minutes into my game i'm down by 2 scores.
I know the basic formations in football but I just suck at this game I guess.
    Any tips would be apprecieated!

        1. Try to always control a linebacker that way if your opponent hits their trigger to make you jump offsides you won't. This was a very common cheat online with the Dreamcast version.

        2. Use a good team. Or If you have "performance EQ" on you can use any team you want.

        3. Use Maximum passing. Use this to fool the defense. Your receiver's pattern may by a fly route but hold the analog stick in left / right to make your receiver run a "IN" or "OUT" pattern.

        4. Let the CPU controlled players tackle the person with the ball. If they're not tackling the way you like take over when they're close enough to tackle the running.

        5. Punt the ball on forth down and if your close enough kick the field goal.

        6. If they're are sticking your receiver pretty good start throwing to your running backs out of the backfield.

        7. When passing try passing to the slant routes in the play and release your throws when they make their turn in their pattern.

        8. Pass to your Tight ends you'll be surprised how open they get.

        I hope this helps you

when you're first starting out with this game make sure (on defense) that you control either a lineman or a blitzing player. dont try to take control of a zone-responsible defender or a man coverage guy until you get better at the game. if you do, chances are you will blow a coverage or gap that the cpu would have saved for you.

start with your sliders easy and tweak your way into realistic gameplay. and as always, hit the practice field if you really want to understand how your defense responds.

Defensively - know your personnel. If you don't know the team really well, look over all the stats. Great corners allow for more man-to-man coverage, and the ability to blitz. Are your linebackers good coverage LBs, or will they need help.

Example: I play as the Eagles. I have probably the best secondary in the league. But my run defense is suspect, especially up the middle. I use the Nickle Double Indian 0 pretty often, blitzing both safeties, and trusting that my corners will handle their men.
