Improving the Pro Bowl

I was wondering if anyone has ideas on how to "fix" the Pro Bowl so that players actually want to go.

The only thing that I could really think of was to turn it into a more relaxed kind of thing with skills challenges (which I could have sworn they either used to or still do) and maybe a flag football game or something just to have a little fun.

It's just kind of sad that players skip out on it every year.

I think the best "fix" would be to cancel it entirely. You can still have pro bowl players, but get rid of the actual game, nobody cares or has cared for a long time.

Re: Improving the Pro Bowl

Make the Hall of Fame game the Pro Bowl. The greats of today honor the greats of yesteryear kind of thing.

Instead of being at the end of the season, it's at the start of the preseason. Players are healthy, so no skipping out due to "injury." It's light enough that it's a nice warm up. The only real downside is that Canton isn't as nice as Honolulu.

Nobody cares about the Pro Bowl at the end of the season. But I bet more people would tune in when it's the first NFL game in six months.

Re: Improving the Pro Bowl

During Vietnam, it became necessary to destroy villages in order to save them.

Likewise, the Pro Bowl can only be improved by canceling it.

Re: Improving the Pro Bowl

There is no improving the pro bowl.

They might as well kill it Old Yeller style though i'm aware the game still gets big ratings so I think we're stuck with it unfortunately.

You sure about that? I was under the impression that that wasn't the case?

I thought I read that while the numbers are a bit soft the ratings are still very good. I know it spiked since they moved it to the week before the SB.

Re: Improving the Pro Bowl

They should switch it to a skills competition like NBA all-star weekend but without the game. You could do fastest 40, longest throw, most accurate throw, longest field goal/punt, etc.
