It was important for us to win this game. We needed to have a winning season and it's nice to beat the Patriots no matter the circumstances because we've been on the losing end of it not long ago..

Good season Bills. The end result met expectations even if there are serious holes and question marks heading into next season

I posted that I hated the deal at the time but man..... that Watkins trade looks even worse now.

The Bills gave up their 2015 1st to move up 5 spots and draft a WR in a WR loaded draft. If they were so set on drafting a WR, they could have stayed in their spot and drafted Odell Beckham. They basically traded Beckham and a 1st for Watkins. It's true that no one knew Beckham was this good but this is exactly why you don't do a trade like this. There's no way to know if the player drafted at 4 will be appreciably better than the one drafted at 9 so why pay a tax to find out? How good does Watkins have to turn out for this trade to break even? All-Pro at a minimum, right? Why were the Bills so aggressive in targeting Watkins?

This is why teams shouldn't trade future 1sts to move up in the same round. No GM is good enough at scouting to differentiate players within the same tiers. It's blind arrogance to think otherwise.

Sweet revenge for Brandon Spikes. He gets the "W", and doesn't have to worry about showing up for any meetings in January. Enjoy your freedom Brandon.

I was hoping he asked his teammates to get carried off the field

Lots of people hated the trade when it first happened assuming it would be a top five pick. The Bills were in win now mode and it showed, and he had almost 1,000 yards in an anemic offense with a high school offensive coordinator and Uncle Rico throwing the ball without having been in any camps. I'm perfectly fine with it.

Agree 100%. Beckham is fantastic and had a better year than Watkins statistically, but when you look at the difference in who is throwing these guys the ball, Watkins may well end up having a better career. Time will tell.

That has nothing to do with what I posted. It's about maximizing resources. If you can get a comparable player in your original draft spot, why trade up? We're talking about paying a 1st round pick to move up 5 spots and draft a player at a position the draft is loaded at.

You don't know he is comparable, and you don't know exactly that ODB would have been there.
