It's another thing to give the team you're going up against, one that is on a hot steak, bulletin board material for... reasons.
Still don't mind it. Sports are slowly losing their rivalries, storylines, drama because everyone involved is scared to say anything outside of the standard preset responses. If Wilson needs anymore motivation to play than needing every game to make the playoffs, then that's an issue with him. There is no way Pettine saying this is gonna give Wilson anything more to play for.

Rivalries are mostly a fan thing. I don't think players care too much, regardless of what is or isn't being said in the media, unless they are outright called out.

Maybe in the pros thats true with all the money involved. I guess that is why a lot prefer college sports.

The 49ers are as big of a bye week as Cleveland is. When two bye weeks meet somebody's got to win.

ESPN gave Seattle the highest chance of winning this weekend at 91%, just above New England over Tennessee at 89%.

So is "bulletin board material" to be honest.

If he wants to be Perpetual Chip-on-the-Shoulder Guy, that's fine. I just like to think that about 99% of professional athletes don't need drummed up media quotes to get their game up.
