I'm curious to see how the Niners defense does against an offense with a real QB this week, because I do think we have a chance to be pretty good on that side of the ball. But stopping Cam is going to be just a wee bit harder than stopping Case.

The Panthers are coming off a disappointing and physical loss at Denver. Cam looks to have no ill effects from all the hits he took, but I'm sure Shula will be more conservative with his running this week.

The defense was surprisingly ineffective in stopping the run, and Trevor Siemian looked pretty capable against them. The 49ers could pose an interesting challenge with the mobility of Blaine Gabbert and their defense looked stout against an admittedly inept Rams offense (aside from Gurley, who was also shut down despite his best efforts).

I think Carolina rebounds, but I think this could be a relatively close game.

San Francisco 14, Carolina 24

No way it is close. Panthers on 10 days rest, San Fran on 6 with a flight across the country. Lock of the week is Panthers +13.5. Bet the farm.

I don't think the Panthers defense will have much trouble. Hopefully we can run the ball a bit to keep it close.
