Nope. Can't do Redzone.

I need to watch games from beginning to end even though the NFL viewing experience is a grind lately. You miss out on the entire story of a game with Redzone.

Why are ratings down? Too many bad teams and coaches hurt the product. That and overexposure. The 365 day a year NFL cycle has folks burnt out.

Re: Has NFL Redzone Changed The Way You Watch Football?

I think QB play is so bad that it's starting to hurt the product.

I don't think it's bad in the traditional "they don't make em' like they used to" sense. There's never been enough good QBs to go around, good QB play has always been hard to find. What I think happened is the rule changes and general emphasis on the passing game has made throwing the ball juuuuuuust easy enough for teams to put a big bright spotlight on their bad QBs. So you have teams like the Dolphins trying to build their offense around Tannehill despite the fact that he isn't remotely qualified for the job. In the past, Tannehill would still be a starting QB but he would be more a puzzle piece than on center stage.

In essence, the league changed things up to emphasize the ONE position where supply can't meet demand and it's hurting the end product.

EDIT: I suppose I have to tie this back to ratings somehow. The bad product is turning people off from games.

I don't think it is because of redzone. Maybe it doesn't help but it is not the primary reason for it.

I'll second the comment that it is largely due to overexposure.

I also wonder what role netflix and the cable cutting movement has.

Re: Has NFL Redzone Changed The Way You Watch Football?

If ratings for games are down because of RZ, then RZ ratings should be up right?

But are they talking about ratings for all NFL broadcasts being down or certain games, especially the night games?

It will be interesting to see how NBA ratings do. Maybe it's just a down year for sports?

Meanwhile the presidential debate set records some people are watching some kind of TV. ESPN tried to get people to watch the MNF game on their app. so that they'd still watch the game while tuning into the debate.

I pretty much just have Redzone on in the background on the kitchen tv while I watch the Bears.

I'm in an NFL pool that mirror's Hilton's SuperContest....so if the Bears aren't on I just watch for the games I picked.

I guess it has changed some. But when Broncos are playing, I watch them solely. When they aren't playing I was Redzone exclusively.

I have no desire to sit through full games anymore; it's become a chore.

imo without redzone you realize just how long NFL games can be and are.
