Is there a league rule on the MINIMUM roster size a team can carry in the NFL?

I understand that 53 is the max roster each team can have and I understand that only 46 can be suited up on gameday but are each NFL teams required to reach the 53 man limit or can they sit under that amount if they so choose?

I must suck at google cuz I can't find a league minimum requirement anywhere.

Basically... is there a rule in the NFL that states each team must have AT LEAST __#__ amount of players signed to the roster each and every week?

Good question, I don't think any team would choose to be under 53 for the simple reason of attrition followed by talent development. You mentioned the 48 guys dressed on game day, but those other guys serve a purpose during the week as well.

That said I'm sure the is something in the CBA that mandates 53 on each team.

Yea, I ask for two reasons mainly:

1. Guys deeming online CFMs not fair if every team doesn't maintain 53 players on the roster

2. Carrying less players is a potential way to free up cap space IRL to retain other players no?

2. No, teams have a salary floor that they have to spend and agin im pretty sure the CBA mandates a 53 man roster.

In a CFM not having 53 is a way to manipulate cap space.

Actually I thought they had to carry 53 but after reading through the CBA the only thing I can find is a bare minimum of 43 allowed.

That is in no way realistic though and should be considered cheating the system in Madden since there are no off ball injuries to worry about.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was no minimum players. The spending rules kinda help that, and you're at a pretty significant disadvantage not using every roster spot you can get your hands on (hence the 54 man trick).

I think none of us knew for sure since it's such an unrealistic scenario.
