Do you have a picture as he's hitting the pylon that proves he didn't regain possession by then? Your picture is from before he got to the pylon.
The point Mestavo is making is that he is in the air, has lost possession. By the rule book, he must control it and land IN bounds. Otherwise, it's a fumble.

Treating a fumble like a "catch" is asinine though. If it's a "catch" play the worst you can have is an incompletion. With this they are treating a "fumble" as a "catch", but giving you the worst result from a fumble (change of possession). It's just bad.

I also am not convinced there is evidence that he didn't land IN BOUNDS. That has been my contention all along. He clearly regains possession before he lands, his knee came down in bounds as he hits the pylon, so it's a TD. That is what was called on the field...there has been nothing conclusive enough that should over turn it.

I know the point he's TRYING to make but he's yet to show something that proves that point.

I don’t understand how the fact that he landed on the pylon isn’t being taken into account by the NFL. That isn’t out of bounds.

This is what's wrong with the NFL, by the way.

When you muddle the rules so much so that literally nobody knows what the hell any of it means or what actually has to be done, your sport is worthless.

It's been a decline for years and years now. Literally incoherent trash.

Looking at it closer, his left knee is clearly in bounds and based on other angles this was when he regained possession. He then hit the pylon. Absolutely no reason that wasn’t a touchdown. The NFL can give us all their crazy rules to explain it but if that isn’t a touchdown then something is wrong with this league.

This is what I've been saying from the start...he didn't land OUT OF BOUNDS. His left knee was in...the NFL's response is awful.

He had to land in bounds or it's a touchback because it's the end zone.

Ref saying he fumbled it twice is all I need to know.

It has NFL Public Relations department written all over it.

I'm no fan of either team but the NFL is full of poo on this one. That's a touchdown in my eyes and all these rules and interpretations of said rules are a joke.

Oh well, I can say this at least, this isn't your older brother's Patriots. This looks like the weakest Patriots team in at least 5 years IMO.
