Plus, it only hurts if it's true. Let Tony have his fun; as he alluded to, he never really had much fun in the playoffs.

I did OOOOH at "I got a gold jacket that I didn’t buy" though, haha.

Didnt Deion a while back say specifically "They dont pay me to tackle?"

Yep, he famously said that during the height of his career. I'm not sure if he's said that post career but it was a big talking point. He said it either after signing with the Niners or Cowboys (i'm going through the Cowboys '95 season and commentators made mention of it leading up to his signing)

All I know is they need to get Romo away from the Chiefs games, he's horrible. I've had to listen to his nonsense to many times.

I like him. On a slower day I'd probably watch a Romo-called game over Red Zone. I can't get enough of the insights on playcalling, why he's expecting certain things, protections, audibles, progression, reading the defense, etc. I can absolutely see how that can be grating but I love it.

Re: Week 9 Games Discussion Thread

I think Romo is excellent in terms of anticipating the plays, explaining exactly what's going on on the field. The issue is that he just doesn't have the voice for broadcasting. It's a pretty scratchy sounding voice to my ears and can be a bit grating listening to for 3 hrs straight. If he had a smoother voice I think even MORE people would go nuts for him. Richard Dietsch (sp?) over at SI whose done the whole sports media analysis thing for YEARS did his announcer rankings for football and has Romo as the best color man in the business today. That's amazing when you consider Romo's literally fresh off of retirement. One key in all this is that Romo isn't afraid to tell viewers things that most players would never say on air. He also isn't afraid to criticize to a certain degree either.

His voice has definitely grated on me, in the short time I've had to listen. He's good, very good in fact, but he's also annoying.

Lol I think the last time the Chiefs beat the Steelers in the playoffs was on a cold day at Arrowhead and Joe Montana was the QB.
