I then assumed that since Abdullah technically never maintained possession of the ball during the hand-off, that this is why Stafford was credited with the lost fumble.

But now there was this botched shotgun snap in the Patriots game (that the Dolphins took for a touchdown), where Brady wasn't even paying attention at the time the snap occurred. It barely nicked his right hip, but if we maintain the idea that the last player with possession of the ball is the person credited with the lost fumble, then it should go to the center. Nope, instead it went to Brady.

So clearly the "possession" idea isn't the way it's called when it comes to a football exchange, so does anyone know the actual rule for the statistic?

Thanks.
As far as stat tracking purposes go the quarterback assumes possession before the snap even happens. Would have been his fumble even if it didn't hit his hip.

Centers aren't people so they don't count in the stat columns (this is a joke before anyone takes it too serious).

C-mac would probably be the ROY if Cam could throw like, 10% more accurate balls...Jesus

Finally Fox can switch games, although the Eagles sideline dances were pretty good

Re: Week 12 Discussion

Well the offense was pretty ****ty, mostly because didn't seem like Cam could throw an accurate pass for anything.

Two non-offensive TDs were the difference as the Panthers pass D was pretty bad, too.

Re: Week 12 Discussion

Whole lot of stupid on the field in Oakland.

Will be surprised if Crabtree and Talib both aren't suspended a game on top of their first quarter ejections.
