Re: 2017 AFC Divisional Round

Titans’ Defense has been legit this year, hasn’t it?

Haven’t watched them during the season but during the game, they were receiving some high praise from the commentary for its performance during the season.

To truly appreciate how solid the Titans defense was this season, one must take into account how ineffective the offense was. It's really the only thing that's kept them in games. Mariota threw more INT than TD and the run game was spotty all year because Mularkey refused to stop running an injured Murray straight up the middle every game.

The D laid an egg against Houston early in the year and Pittsburgh on TNF because the offense was comically bad in those games. They got tired. For like the first half of the season, the Titans had no pass rush, then there was a stretch where they had 26 sacks over 5 games. That helped them finish top 5 in sacks. They're also #1 in the league at preventing passing plays of 20+ yards and the run D was amazing besides the Gurley game. Opponents averaged 88 rushing ypg overall.

I don't think the defense gets the credit they deserve. They bend but don't break and we have a shot in a vast majority of games thanks to them. Even at 80 DLB is still scheming with the best of them. And the D plays really hard for him. He saved Mularkey's job.

Re: 2017 AFC Divisional Round

Both the Titans and Jags DLs are great. The Jags run defense has also been top 5 since Dareus was traded.

If the DLs control both OLs, they can both win the games.

Its possible. New Englands run defense is horrible and thats what the Titans excel at.

If the Titans have to put it in Marcus hands to pass the ball too win then Titans will get slaughtered.

Familiarity? It's year 1 with Doug Marrone, Campbell, Bouye, Church, etc. I think familiarity is a bit overstated here. Titans just match up better with them.

Regarding Jacksonville/Pittsburgh, that previous game doesn't hold a lot of stock for me. It'll be about 20 degrees in Pittsburgh and I don't trust teams from Florida coming into those kinds of elements. Then there's the whole Blake Bortles thing. Not a chance in hell I take him to beat Roethlisberger and Co at Heinz.
