Good luck.
If you're opening a new restaurant, do you go where others are thriving or do you open one where there are none?

He picked mostly spots with large media markets. He needs all the publicity and visibility he can get.

Fair point but i think there could've been a better mix of big media/NFL markets and untapped markets. I'm not against going to STL but i'm surprised they didn't target San Diego.

They aren't competing w/ the NFL though, they're competing with AAF, who will already have a season under it's belt and also have a San Diego franchise.

XFL kicks off the weekend after the Super Bowl in 2020, same weekend the AAF kicks off it's second season.

Wish Birmingham could have got a team. XFL seems more exciting that AAF right now.

Birmingham has dominated ESPN's market for CFB viewership for 17 years.. not just Alabama and Auburn games. The city is building the UAB Blazers a new facility now, is getting a AAF team, etc. It's littered with minor league affiliates across every sport, but is open season for "professional" football sans the Birmingham Iron.

They wouldn't even have to play at Legion Field.

Hopefully the Buccaneers can relegate Chris Conte to this team.

Was wondering if they feel Alabama is too invested in CFB?

That's fair within a vacuum but are some of these markets willing to pay to watch football virtually year round? It'll be interesting to say the least. I'm thinking the AAF will do better in the long term than XFL V. 2.0

I think that's a fair thing to assume, but there's really not a whole lot of big event things to do in Birmingham. I know people who routinely go to Atlanta on weekdays to watch the Braves. As long as it's not happening on a Saturday in the fall and the product is good then people would support it.

Anything more than minor league or small time professional football wouldn't survive.

re: XFL Discussion

I feel like XFL is already leading the relevancy battle vs the AAF. Not that that's saying much. Pretty sure most people don't even know the AAF exists, let alone that it kicks off in 2 months. This whole thing is bizarre lol.
