That’s just me though
That whole sequence was so bizarre. My subjective Lions fan side says it looked like he made it, my objective NFL fan side says ehh maybe not, let's see what the review says. Then we came back from commercial and Detroit kicked the PAT with no explanation.

We had one official saying he was down, we had another official saying he got in, it was a weird confusing situation and it got swept under the rug during the commercial break.

Makes me wonder, what if the review said "play stands". Which ref call was the call that stands? If two officials have two different calls, and the review is play stands, what the hell do we do?

I was down near that side of the field, and even though my homer glasses saw the pile push back, I think the narrative become the standard, "not enough evidence to turn it around."

It is what it is.

Before the play can be challenged, there must be a ruling on the field.

So the refs come together and discuss it and make a determination on what the one ruling is, and that is what gets challenged. Not a unusual situation, a lot of times the refs have to come together to decide on the outcome of a play.

They wouldn't initiate the challenge without deciding on that.

so the two differing refs don't come to blows?

If neither relent and both insist on their call being the final one, they may arrange trial by combat.

Re: Week 6 Discussion Thread

Why don't they just implement what they do in college where there's someone watching every play and can buzz down on any play when they see something obvious?

I don't understand why this has to be so complicated.

Chill with this logic man. Lol

The NFL will add all these rules and tweaks but won’t use the pretty standard technology available for them like this. Makes no sense.
