Is this for the upcoming season, or the playoffs?

Curious how late a player can sign with a team and still be playoff-eligible. I think when people were talking about Gronk potentially returning that he had a specific window that they were able to make that happen, which I believe had passed... unless it hasn't yet.

Anyway, I'm assuming it's for next year but this particular timing makes me wonder why they would even focus on this right now unless it was actually for the playoffs.

Doesn’t make sense for next year, they have a bunch of good or capable RB. But I’m not sure if he is eligible for this year either, which the next 2-5 games are the only time they’ll need immediate help.

He’s an unrestricted free agent so he can play through the playoffs if he signs. The Seahawks are extremely depleted at RB so it’s definitely for this season.

Gronk was placed on the reserved/retired list by the Pats (for roster space). With that designation, a player must sign by December 1st to be playoff eligible.

Yeah, that's where my mind first went regarding this. I knew they had a lot of injuries at the spot right now. It would be cool to see him sign, especially if they find it is one of the bigger woes when playing SF next week.
