FunnyMP3s 2002 Power Rankings: Week 6

CONTENDERS

1 Raiders 4-0-0 Drew Bled-too-much in the Raiders win. Gave up over 400 yards passing, but still put up 49 points to counter. Will the Raiders choke again this year or are they for real? Look to MNFs 500th game at Mile High to answer this puzzle.
2 TIE Dolphins 4-1-0 Dolphins got enough pressure on Brady to fluster his day, Fiedler showed great pocket presence on Sunday. Can Williams run against the Broncos? Next week we will determine who is better.
2 TIE Broncos 4-1-0 Broncos rebound from the Ravens by holding the Bolts in check. Greise looked the best he has since he was a Wolverine.
4 Saints 4-1-0 Wow, this team is for real. We keep waiting for them to lose but they don't.
5 49ers 4-1-0 49ers stomp the Rams in 1980's fasion, not even close.
6 Buccaneers 4-1-0 Game was close vs. the Falcons until Vick was sidelined, then the Bucs rolled. Offense still needs help putting up numbers because a defensive injury can kill this team.
7 Chargers 4-1-0 Ok, so the Bolts play a good run defense team. But being down 19-0 at the half didn't help the running cause either, they need Seau back soon.
8 TIE Packers 3-1-0 (Pending MNF) Bret Fav-Ray is playing like the best QB in the league.
8 TIE Jaguars 3-1-0 The Jags again show why they are a contender by beating up on the Eagles, the score was closer than the game was.

ON THE BUBBLE

10 Eagles 3-2-0 Donovan tried to rally his team with throwup charm, but the Eagles lost because they gave up the big play one too many times.
11 Patriots 3-2-0 The Pats were kept in check by the 'Fins and couldn't stop the run (again).
12 Chiefs 3-2-0 The Chiefs lay down alot of points again this week and beat the J-E-T-S in the end. I bet nobody wants to play the hot Chiefs at Arrowhead this year either.
13 Colts 3-1-0 Colts beat the Bengals, but still give up the big plays to...............................the Bengals. Show Tony Dungy's record to Cochran now before the Ls start racking up.
14 Bears 2-2-0 (Pending) Defense needs to stay injury free the rest of the year.
15 Bills 2-3-0 Bills kept it close with the Raiders until the end of the game, then the Raiders showed why they are undefeated by making the big plays.
16 Giants 3-2-0 G-Men finally put up some points against a sub-par team.
17 Panthers 3-2-0 Becoming the most consistently inconsistent team in the league. They can't hold off the much improved red birds.
18 Cardinals 3-2-0 A win is a win is a win. Cards are a streaky team.

PRETENDERS

19 TIE Redskins 2-2-0 Fun N' Gun does fine vs. a horrendous Titan's 2ndary.
19 TIE Ravens 2-2-0 Ray Lewis shows that he is still the best defensive leader in the league as he rallies his troops from the sideline.
21 Cowboys 2-3-0 Cowboys play valiantly vs. the G-men but come up short again, rebuilding is a bitch.

PLAYING FUGLY

22 Steelers 1-3-0 Ok, the Steelers have big time defensive problems (never thought I would say that), Kordell's confidence is now permanently shot. Maddox was decent but not good enough to get the W.
23 Browns 2-3-0 Ok, now the Cleveland fans start booing their Crouch when he gets hurt, feeling bad for the Browns is over. Note to Drew Carey: Cleveland doesn't Rock.
24 Falcons 1-3-0 Looks like they are not going to make the playoffs this year after all. Offense can be explosive and at other times a dud.
25 Seahawks 1-3-0 BYE Seahawks need to score while they have to momentum. Bring out Vikings game for Exhibit A.
26 Jets 1-3-0 The Jets play a up-and-down close game against the Chiefs and then the 4th quarter happened and the better team won. Just don't show Edward's record to Johnny Cochran.
27 Titans 1-3-0 Titans still need to fix their pass defense to compete. Their offense has too many short drives also.
28 Lions 1-3-0 BYE Need a big lift this year and Harrington just might provide it.

PLAIN SUCK

29 Vikings 0-4-0 BYE Randy Moss is still a crybaby and the team has no confidence to win.
30 Rams 0-5-0 Ok, the Rams have no chance this year.
31 Texans 1-3-0 BYE Texans are still smiling over beating the Cowboys.
32 Bengals 0-5-0 Corey Dillon plays a good game but the Bengals play like the Rams again and lose.

Yeah it's a long season though.....would be nice for my Cards to stay up there, and they very well could, just not THAT likely. Our defense is playing out of their minds though, and everyone figured that would be our weak spot

Re: FunnyMP3s 2002 Power Rankings: Week 6

I think Jake Plummer is the weakness.

He is terribly inconsistant, throws some really bad picks, and had never even had one really good year.

Picks kill a team and throwing picks is Jakes' strength. Thats why QB rating is such a good measure of a QB. And Jakes ratings are bad.
A solid running game would help, a better o-line sure. But so would some good decisions by Bill Walsh's pet.

Personally, I see him as nothing but hype and the stats back me up on that.

Never a good year? Were you around last year? Or were you around in 98 when he took us to the 2nd round of the playoffs? Last season was Jake's first with a good OLine.....he performed well, and the Cardinals overachieved at 7-9 with absolutely no running game.

Jake throws his share of picks, no argument here. But QB rating is crap.....Plummer has more TD's than INT's but still had before this week a lower QB rating than Kerry Collins who had many more INT's than TD's......QB rating is HEAVILY rated by completion %age.....which is not a direct reflection of the QB but is also dependant on no drops by wide recievers etc.

Cards have a solid running game this season and they have a good OLine....they are 3-2 and off to their best start in 11 years.

I think his 19 come from behind wins in 5 years speak for themself.....let's see how well he does when Boston and our 1st and 2nd string RB's get healthy.

BTW...he has more TD's than INT's thusfar this season

Re: FunnyMP3s 2002 Power Rankings: Week 6

Yup. More touchdowns then INT's by 1 so far this year. For his career he as thrown many more picks then TD's.
QB rating is not just completion % but yards per, INTs, TD's and many other things. It's a good rating and is why it's so heavily used. Sure, it's only a measure, but a good one.

For his career, jake's thrown 78 TD's and 99 picks. In '98 Jake threw 17 TD's and 20 picks. And come from behind wins mean nothing. It's winning that counts. If jake didn't throw so many picks he wouldn't have to come from behind so much. And that fact that he's always trailing helps add to his chances of come from behind wins. And for all the losses he been involved with, he hasn't lead a come from behind win an aweful lot.

You just can't say Jake has lived up to the hype. He has done nothing but shown he is an average NFL QB at best. You can count on 1 hand the times an average NFL QB has won a Super Bowl.

I like this site the QB rating calculator click here

Plummer's rating was 60.520833333333336

last week 4: 94.27083333333334

3:60.995370370370374

2:56.43939393939394

1: 53.8194444444444

AVG rating: 65.204 - Which is actually less than AVG. The NFL avg for this year so far is 71.5 - No thanks to Kurt Warner.
