\"Freestyle Control\" in Madden 2002/2004

I was readin' a review of Live 2003, and at the end he mentioned how it would be great if All the EA franchises had the Freestlye Control. I know NHL has it (sort of) and Fifa will use it, but he said how Madden 2004 should have it.

Strangely enough, i remember that in Madden 2002, all the special moves were tied to the Right Stick. I tried it last night in 2003 and it doesnt work.

Can anyone confirm that it works in 2002??

I don't think they work in 2002 either. Anyways after playing Live for about 5 hours last night I am in love with the freestyle control, you can do so much more with it. I think Madden 2004 should use the R analog pad for something similar maybe for stutter steping. Diving over a pile. Or some other moves that can be prescripted. On defense the R analog pad could be used too.

The possibilities have now become very big.

Im pretty sure it had all the standard moves mapped to the right stick, but since i dont have my 2002 anymore, i cant check.

They should have the up and over dive and tackle context sensitive, but who knows what they're going to do next yr.

I don't remember this in Madden 2002. It was in NFL 2k2, however.

The juke and straight arm moves are good where they are, on the shoulder buttons. Easier to access them there than to take your right fingers off the buttons to the R stick.

But where the R stick could be useful is as an alternate way to throw passes, maybe show a cursor so that you can lead the WR the way you want to. Or, you can execute the same moves you have now only faster.

I like the idea of using the right stick to adjust the vision of the player. As the qb snaps he sees the field between the tackles (like in real life) and you move the right stick to see more of the left or right. This may be a bit much for RBs but would be good for the QB. Might even make it possible to use the closer views more effectively too.

There's an idea. The option to use a more ground level QB perspective instead of the god's eye view might be cool too.

2K2 on XBox had "virtual control" - all special moves could be done with R stick excpet the power up/speed burst which was done with pushing down on L stick- which did'nt work too well. You could'nt hit it repeatedly anyway. So the system was pretty useless.

I know it was in NFL but i never bought NFL 2k2, and remember doing it in Madden. Up was Hurdle, Left/Right were stiff arm, and i forget what the others were.
