Minor League Hockey

Well without an NHL as of now I figured we might as well talk about the local AHL/ECHL or any other level of minor hockey.

The Las Vegas Wranglers have their first pre-season game thursday night. Being a season ticket holder I have free tickets so I'll most likely be at the game. The tickets are reasonably priced and the hockey isn't terrible. The crowd in Vegas, although small, tends to really get into the games.

Well where I am located in Nova Scotia Canada this is what I have around me.

My local team is actually Jr A and is the Pictou County Weeks Crushers of the Maritime Hockey League(MHL). Its great hockey for 16-20. Google the MHL and itll come up.

Also have the QMJHL with the closest team being the Halifax Mooseheads, but within a few hours of about a handful of teams. The QMJHL is part of the CHL which is considered minor pro hockey. Take one shift in either preseason or regular game on any team in the CHL and lose your NCAA chances.

Yeah I was thinking after I posted this I probably should have included major junior hockey as well.

I think its a given though as Major Junior is technically still Minor Hockey in a certain way. I mean they are all aged 16-20

Here in Colorado the Eagles (ECHL) just got to the ECHL after being in the CHL for 7 years or so. So i haven't watched them much but with the lockout coming ill prolly dig in

I'll be trying to watch some Rochester Americans hockey games. They're the Buffalo AHL affiliate. I wonder if I can find ways to watch them online.

I would suggest people to get WHL if they're getting a package. WHL is all run n gun type of offense.

Good to know there the online stream has AHL games. I didn't even realize Dan Gilbert owned the Lake Erie Monsters. Oklahoma City Barons' top line is MPS-RNH-Eberle, Monsters top line is Van Der Gulik, Bradley Malone, and Bill Thomas (who, who and who?)

Edit: Not to mention OKC have Justin Schultz as well.

Only bad thing I can say about the AHL Live stuff is that they don't show any replay. Schultz looked really good for OKC, while RNH and Eberle was off the whole night.

anyone local to me sometimes check out the OHL, I produce every Brampton Battalion Home game, we were on HD toronto this aft. Great game, great win.

it's usually pretty good hockey, you get the odd stinker, but there are some good games to be seen.

It's fun seeing a lot of these guys go to the NHL or AHL, Battalion captain Sam Carrick I was surprised to see go to the ECHL, I think there is a chance he'll get out playing for the troops this season, but of course it all depends on the lockout.

As usual, I'll go to a number of Fort Worth Brahmas games this year. We're members of the Central Hockey League and the games are a blast to go to.
