That person better be in jail for a long time, but that won't bring anyone back.

Just recently I was driving in the middle of the day and there was someone clearly drunk (sometimes they'd drift to the left side of their lane line, other times they'd drift past the right side) and it was scary even being near them. Too bad it was a highway so there's nowhere to really stop or pull over and wait it out until I'm no longer anywhere near that car. People are just that stupid.

Sickening, infuriating, and absolutely positively heartbreaking.

Just remove that guy from society.

Re: NHL 2024 Offseason

The community is definitely in mourning today. As a father of a child who’s at the age where I’m introducing him to the game and skating, this one hits close. A lot of support coming out from people involved in the game around here. It’s just crazy

Re: NHL 2024 Offseason

Something I never knew happened.

Monahan signed with Columbus for 5 years in part to reunite with Gaudreau. I believe Gaudreau had 5 years left on his deal too so it lined up perfectly, and they likely would've been line mates too.

It's something Monahan said earlier this week too.

Re: NHL 2024 Offseason

Draisaitl signed to 8 year 14m AAV deal.

Deal kicks in next season which happens to be McDavids final year of his contract. Obviously they'll give McDavid anything he wants, but spending what is looking like almost 30m on 2 players is gonna be tough to build around them.

Re: NHL 2024 Offseason

Don't know how it's possible to make the Gaudreau stories sadder but it continues to get there.

Turns out both their wives are pregnant too.

Side note, WWE happens to be in Calgary tonight, the day of the funerals, in the first televised event from inside the Saddledome since they died. Just seemed so fitting from that venue especially we see a show of any kind happening on a day like this, and even they did a tribute with a piece from outside the arena where all the flowers and signs and everything else are laying.

Re: NHL 2024 Offseason

Bruins didn't think this one through.

They dealt Ullmark because they were going with Swayman as their full time #1.

Only problem they didn't realize until later....Swayman isn't signed to a deal. So now Swayman has all the leverage and could sit out for the first month or two of the season until he gets his contract.

Next time maybe negotiate while you have the leverage to be like "sign or we're going with the other guy"

Re: NHL 2024 Offseason

Further to the Swayman story, Neely implies they offered him a 64m deal.

I'd imagine that's 8x8 which would make him the 5th highest paid active goalie.

I'd imagine he wants closer to 9m given Hellebuyck got 8.5m. Price shouldn't be a comparable, even Bobrovsky is a high number at 10m, but 8.5-9m I could see being the number once it's settled

Edit-
Now Swaymans agent is saying that number was made up
