Re: 2016 World Cup of Hockey

I only watched some, but part of it looked like one of those high school pep rallys lol.

But whoever's in charge in the NHL for running events like this and awards show is horrible. For a major pro league like this, just looks so cheesy at times with some of their off ice events

Check out the Stubhub prices for non-Canada games.

Re: 2016 World Cup of Hockey

lol, Finland games. But not bad though for some of those other games. $20+ to see Russia-Sweden on a weekend, just under $50 for some 100 level seats? Not bad at all.

2016 World Cup of Hockey

Gearing up for the first official action of the tourney. Haven't caught this European team yet so looking forward to how they look. And of course seeing how USA plays as well.

Speaking of which, unless the goalies play great (was hoping Schneider got the call but Quick is a great choice too of course), not sure how far USA goes. Think they built the wrong team for this tourney. I guess I shouldn't say wrong team, but not sure if they stack up to some of the other rosters especially defensively. Then again, it's not quite fair to compare to Canada who basically has an All Star team.

Re: 2016 World Cup of Hockey

Just realized there are ads on the jerseys (USA specifically). Shoulders. Eh, that's not so bad.

...pretty sure that's how it always starts.

Re: 2016 World Cup of Hockey

Didn't watch much of pre-tournament, but I like the new technology on the board ads. Make it much more like soccer games with electronic screen all around. I hate how mlb does it with ugly green screens behind home plate.

I always thought this would be good idea, but didn't know how it'd work with players getting hit into it, or puck bounces off a diff material, but so far it's nice. Fixes the white balance on camera too as it's a sharp white colour compared to the dirty white you see from most boards(as you can see contrast from the electronic boards, and original ones at center ice with the USA and Europe logo)

2016 World Cup of Hockey

Wow odd no-goal decision. JVR chested a flying puck toward the goal but it appeared to glance off Stepan's helmet. Refs in mid season form or is that by the book? I was under the impression that if it hit something else before going in the intentional illegal directing of the puck was nullified.

Btw, those dynamic boards are cool. Trippy, but cool.
