Social media was fantastic last night. The hot takes from Caps fans you don’t hear a peep from all year.

Acting like that Reaves check was the worst thing ever. If you would watch games all year that happens way too much and barely called unfortunately. Garage league. Then defended that Wilson hit as clean. Lol. If he don’t return to the game and Vegas lost he would be suspended 3-4 games easy with his history. Doubt he gets a game now.

Vintage NHL. But a lot of butthurt on my timeline last night.

I think the main reason why it works is because it’s Vegas. It’s just appropriate.

I went out there to see them play the Flyers and they had what was essentially a Game of Thrones trailer projected on the ice....**** was awesome.

Something I never thought about until they mentioned it in that opening, Vegas has defeated a team representing the land(Kings), water(Sharks) and air(Jets).


Hockey culture is the most plain of the major team sports out there, would be nice if things like this can cause things to change, but unfortunately it's probably exclusive to these types of markets. Things like Vegas pre-game show, Preds fans during games, even something as simple as Sharks player intros(coming out through the shark head with the arena all dark and a spotlight and smoke all around the tunnel) are little things which I find way better than just the basic template you'd see in a place like Toronto, Boston and so on.

Given the heightened emotions, I can understand the first. If I was a real Caps fan (I'm nominally cheering for them in this series, but mainly just want a spectacle; I'm happy either way), I'd be justifiably ticked at the Reaves cross-check & goal. Even if it goes uncalled more than half the time (and it does), it still sucks to have that happen to your team when they're going for their first Stanley Cup. As you and Mario have said, garage league. No excuses for Wilson, though. I've seen enough of his type play for Vancouver over the years. F*** him.
