I've been meaning to make this thread for a while so...

If you weren't a fan/supporter of your current club who would you be supporting?


As a Chelsea fan it pains to me to say this but I'd be either a Liverpool or Milan fan.

I'm American but my uncle was from London. He was incredibly close to my parents (and basically nobody else in the family) so when they found out they were having a baby it was like he was having a baby too. I was brainwashed from birth (funny how brainwashing and passing down traditions seem so similar) so I honestly have no idea.

Most Americans end up being United or Arsenal supporters so I'd rather not think about it to be honest.

My "second team" will always be Coventry City. I was born in the midlands and Coventry was always the place to go with my dad and granddad. I bet I've been to Highfield Road more than any other ground in the country over the years. They've had some great players over the years. Steve Ogrizovic, Brian Borrows, Dion Dublin, Terry Gibson, Cyrille Regis, Gary McAllister, gary Gillespi to name a few.

Probably Leeds. I had some friends that talked me into supporting Liverpool...but one of them is a Leeds fan, so I probably would've gone that route.

I just know that united and arsenal were always on my list of "never ever ever support" going into the decision.

Are you saying you can't be a Milan fan because you support Chelsea? That doesn't make sense to me. Why can't you support a team in another country at the same time as Chelsea?

Exactly. Think of it this way, if you support a team more than one league, it just means that you get to watch more football.

I'm just in the camp that throws all of their eggs into one basket.

If I wasn't a Spurs fan, I probably would have ended up with Everton (Tim Howard) or Liverpool.

This is usually how I explain to Americans the difference between a fan and a supporter. You can be a fan of many teams, but a supporter is basically "all in".

Chelsea could get relegated to the Conference (inb4 someone like Kreb quotes this saying "that's the dream) and it wouldn't change a thing for me (except obviously quite a bit of sadness). Chelsea will be the team I support for the rest of my life.

I like Inter a lot, but if they got relegated or something to that effect, I wouldn't care that much, probably just feel a bit bad for them.

But seriously I also am a fan of Hearts in Scotland and Minnesota United (we either go to the game or get together to watch them every week).

I have affinities for other teams, but definitely don't care about any of them nearly as much.

I enjoy following lots of different leagues. Gauging my own fandom, it would be something like:

Supporter
LA Galaxy (MLS)

Fan
Nott’m Forest (Championship)
Liverpool (EPL)
Hereford FC (Southern League)
AS Roma (Serie A)
FC Köln (Bundesliga)

I guess I'm about as close to a Forest supporter as I can be without actually being one. I've got the shirt, the scarf, etc., I just don't think you can call yourself a "supporter" if you've never been to a live match and rarely even see them on TV.
