Total Fifa Newbie...cpu scoring.

Picked up my first ever Fifa game with Fifa 13. ($15). Im playing as a Midfielder for the Career Mode. Im playing at Professional level (have avoided the ones above because I stink at the game) and have gone through slider sets but what ever i do the cpu just doesnt seem to want to score. Settings are basially 40is me, 55-60is for cpu..

I am in the 2nd Division (German)..Is that the reason? or is there a key slider that I need to manipulate.
