Lol, I'm like 99% sure that Wambach and that Nigerian player didn't actually bump heads, but the Nigerian player was selling it with the ice bag. Maybe I'm too cyncal...

With Rapinoe gone, I think 1 goal will have to be enough.

good job to win the group

Play Monday at 8PM, B/E/F 3rd place team, hopefully France, England both win and Brazil blows out Costa Rica. If not, you are looking at France/England or Spain/Costa Rica.

Good game plan by the US. I was afraid Nigeria's speed would give them trouble but they did next to nothing all night.

Re: 2015 Women's World Cup Thread

This defense seems to be a lot more organized than 2011. Unfortunately, the opposite can be said about the attack.

The round of 16 opponent will be the 3rd place team from B, E, or F. I tried going through the possible combinations and got a headache. Simplified version is hopefully we avoid F because it could be England or France. Hope for B, which is Thailand.

Edit: Just looked at it closer. Thailand's GD is -7, so you can go ahead and throw out them making it through. So E or F it is.

Re: 2015 Women's World Cup Thread

England and France will finish 1 & 2 if they win. Columbia would finish 3rd.

The other group is also messy with 3 teams.

I would probably rather get Spain than Columbia as they are playing well and have a ton of fans there.

Re: 2015 Women's World Cup Thread

France is already beating the bejesus out of Mexico, so woohoo, we avoid France.

Now England up 1-0.

The way it stands now, Colombia would be the opponent unless there is a winning result between Spain and South Korea that also makes up the goal difference. Costa Rica is in a weird position where it is impossible for them to finish 3rd and have enough points/GD to make it.

Colombia is easily my fave non-USA team, so kinda bummed they might go head2head.
