Crazy stuff in English leagues this year /:

So I got bored tonight and decided to check some league tables and got a bit of a surprise when I got to League 1

Burton Albion are 2nd in League 1 after just being promoted from League 2 this year!

Then I think oh League 2 couldn't be any crazier and I was right with one exception Portsmouth are off and running this year and are 2nd in league 2

Seems like we got a few up and coming teams in the English leagues this year!

Let me know what your opinions are on this.

I don’t know if there is a word for it, but it happens a lot. A team get promoted to a new league and they do really well the first season. For example, in the SHL (Swedish hockey League) last season Växjö won the whole thing and it was their first season in SHL.
They usually doesn’t do as good the next season though. It’s almost like a gigantic adrenaline dump.

Very true. Brentford has had a meteoric rise of late. Fleetwood Town got promoted to League 1 from Conference National in the span of about three years. Some teams manage to play solid football even in the higher levels. Brentford fought for promotion to the Premier League last season, just after being promoted to the Championship. (I think they finished 6th or something, I know they made the Play-off.

They were 5th and made the playoffs. Also I only posted this because I was dumbfounded by the fact that Burton was doing so well in a tougher division. Sure we've had Brentford and Fleetwood Town do the same thing recently but I wasn't expecting Burton to do it!

It's still rather early in the season. The true test comes in December/January to see if they can keep it up.
