Tbh I think that's a bit disingenuous. Kane had a bad game but it really wasn't because of VVD, who was uncharacteristically mediocre.

Strangely enough I thought Matip was the best defender on the pitch, VVD was very quiet.

It was totally tongue and cheek.

Everyone had a a quiet game considering no one had played since May 12. Too long of a lay-off if you ask me.

Harry Kane looked well off the pace considering he hadn't played since early April. I think the only thing I recall VVD doing was busting a gut to stop Son bearing down on goal late in the 2nd half.

Yeah having the game so long after the season end is pretty unfortunate, although I guess maybe their reasoning is that England is the only league that ends so early.
