NASCAR 09: Black Flags Excessive?
Has anyone noticed how sensitive black flags can be when turned on? I've had instances where I'm running a completely clean race, barely tap someone in a corner, neither of us spin out or even swerve as a result of the incident, but I get black flagged.

I've only gotten them after several times "hitting" someone. However it's hard to avoid hitting someone sometimes. It's definitely too sensitive.Has anyone noticed how sensitive black flags can be when turned on? Other than that if you follow the rules you should be ok.
Don't pass on the inside on a restart before the start finish line.
Don't speed into the pits. -

You can bump draft but you have to ease into it, I havent had any black flags doing that yet.
The one brain fart I had was passing before the start/finish line which I'm still annoyed with on my part lolAaron

I've been having trouble bump drafting the computer. I usually get a black flag for rough driving. It is sooo sensitive it makes it really hard to bump draft, almost like it can not be done. And if I'm lucky to tap the other car just lightly the AI fights to get out of the way instead of just holding its line and let me push. Frustrating.
The AI on Gran Turismo Prologue reacts the same way when you try to bump draft them at Daytona oval. The difference is it doesn't completely spaz out and you can often stick to a AI car and push it around the track. I wish NASCAR '09 allowed this.----------

The thing about the black flags in this game is one race you can hit 4-5 cars and no penalty and another time you barely hit another car and your black flagged, seems kinda random at timesComment

They arent locked I have changed that. I just went to race settings and changed it to yellow only because of stuff like that. Wasn't greyed out or locked.Comment

Are you sure you're talking about season mode? For me I can change it in career mode as well as in race now mode but for some reason the option is greyed out in season mode. I just play career mode instead. I play with my own car and don't use performance points anyway so it's not a big difference with the exception of having whatever spondor I sign with on the hood.Comment

The other day I was black flagged for touching another car as I was spinning out...
That's when I decided to play career mode with no black flags instead of playing season mode.Comment

to the bump drafting thing-it pisses me off when you go to bump draft and then AI locks the brakes and then you collect it. after a while i get pissed and bump draft and then brake, shove it in 3rd, and pass (black flags=turned off). But now then AI is giving me a F.U and getting sideways on my ***. Even on the STRAIGHTAWAYS! Im easing in to it and everything, doing it right.) so i nail the rear quarter panel.
am i wrong for that?Last edited by Watson; 05-20-2009, 02:22 PM.And may thy spirit live in us, Forever LSU

Yeah the bump drafting sucks on any track. You can't even draft at Daytona in the corner. The AI drives like Kyle Busch and switches like 3 lanes at a time when you get behind them. If you touch them they nearly wreck.
You go three wide on the bottom you will wreck when you get to the corner. The AI will come down on you and run you off the track. If you hold your line they turn you up the track into the wall. The way it is set up you have to run two wide or run the high side.
I was running a season and led every race but was either black flagged or crashed out by lap cars.Comment

You should never bump draft in a corner. That's true in real life as well.Comment

My mistake I was not saying bump drafting in the corner. I meant you can't stay behind the other car in the corner to get a regular draft because the other car switches to many lanes.Comment
