Re: NASCAR The Game 2011 Q&A and Impressions

Raced 50 laps at Atlanta and some good and some frustrating things. First the good the yellow did come out for the most part when it should have. Other times i felt like i had to crash in the other cars to finally get one. The physics are good and the cars looked nice. The roof flaps came up when rear tires lifted off the ground. During 1 of my pit stops one of my crew men tore off a windshield cover. Kevin Harvick led all 50 laps and really never had anybody challenge him. The one diver that gained the most spots went to Paul Menard who started 24 and finished in the top ten. Really strange seeing the AI cars slow down in the corners. If Eutechnyx can get the online and AI kinks worked out we could have a heck of game to play. Stranges bug i had was at Richmond. I was spun out and wanted to pit so the AI sent my car down pit road but i never did pit. The car just drove through pit road and when i go to the back stretch another AI car was just sitting there never moved. The game wouldnt move on from the caution we just kept going around the track. I finally just switched to Atlanta. Nice thing in the pause menu is that you can switch to another track without having to go back to the main menu.

i plan to do the exact same thing today. Played TW all night and enjoyed a non-buggy experience, not to mention getting to play augusta. I recognize that the TW series has had a number of years to work out all of the glitches, and i hope this nascar series is around to do the same. until then, however, i will sit it out.

I think they definately nailed this one although there is alot if problems that need tuned. Online could be fun once the servers get worked out. I ran Daytona in my career and DNFd because I ran out of fuel came 43rd. Then at Auto Club I qualified 24th got up to 16th couldnt get further. Pit stops came I got flagged then the field pitted with 2 to go and I ended up 6th

Re: NASCAR The Game 2011 Q&A and Impressions

The game definately has some issues... but I play iRacing to get my SIM experience. My girlfriend got home last night and asked me if I picked up the new Nascar game (she's been hearing me talk about it and watching me play iRacing, and I wouldn't let her on my account to screw up my ratings haha) and when I told her I got it we played for almost 2 hours.

I love the game to just pick up and play and mess around, it isn't sim, but I still find the entertainment value there. At this point I have the iracing, and The Show for my real hardcore gaming, if I can find games like Nascar that the gf wants to play with me instead of telling me to get off my video games, I'm all over it!

The caution lights are still not patched. They're not all for all of the tracks but for a lot of them, they are. Not the biggest concern of mine bc it doesnt affect the racing. They REALLY need to fix the cautions themselves. It's like 50/50 on whether you'll get a caution if you spin offline. Online you have to drive backwards 90% of the time to get one if you spin out.

Initial Impressions for 360

I got the game yesterday afternoon and played it for a couple of hours

Positives
*The game looks absolutely amazing from the tracks to the cars the realism is on point
*The game is deffinitely a challenge even on the lower levels
*They hit the roster pretty well, there are some exclusions but when they go as far as to put Travis Kvapil and David Gilliland in they put in the effort.
*Eliminator mode is cool and new for a Nascar Game

Negatives
*Even with the patch the cautions are pretty rediculous, I have been completely spun out with another car and the caution did not come out
*The career mode is very thin, it deffinitely feels like season rather than career, one thing EA did well was make a big distinction between the two
*My biggest gripe is the lack of a driver ratings system, It should be harder to win a race at Bristol with Danica Patrick than it is with Kyle Busch. Those ratings really made 09 for me. I know it sucked if your favorite driver had bad ratings, but if they have the AI perform like the drivers they could make the user controlled cars do the same, possibly with an option to turn the ratings on and off. It is like you are driving paint schemes, rather than the actual drivers.

Overall I think the game is fun and I will keep it, I just had some pretty high expectations and hopefully acitvision will add these things in future versions

I was afraid of that. I will need to toughen him up a bit on the track. A few times into the wall should do it.
