But i did just learn that the wheel i talked about before only works on Windows XP and Vista, so since i got windows 7 i guess i gotta shell out for the G27

Yeah hopefully there is some light at the end of the wheel-less tunnel soon. And hopefully Microsoft doesn't think that holding your arms out pretending to hold a wheel is a sufficient replacement for a real wheel.
