Gran Turismo Sport Will Not Feature Weather or Dynamic Time-Lapse

In a recent interview with GTPlanet, Kazunori Yamauchi has confirmed, Gran Turismo Sport will not feature any sort of weather or dynamic time-lapse, when it releases on November 15.

We opted to not have the transitions in the race this time in order to raise the framerate and the quality of the image *during* the race. So the user will be able to set that before they enter the race. So you’ll still be able to have night races, morning, races at dawn, dusk, and so on.

Disappointing. Weather is a critical element if they are trying to make this a legitimate racing esport.

The war between performance optimization and pretty graphics goes on....

As I continue to read articles about GT Sport, I find it more and more disappointing. I won't be purchasing this version of Gran Turismo. No time or weather changes combined with what appears, by all accounts, no offline career mode has quickly turned this game into something I will look beyond.

I wouldn't expect most of those features in GT 7 frankly either, besides career mode.

If I'm reading this right, there IS weather, it's just not dynamic, same with time of day.

Disappointing regardless. We shouldn't be taking steps backwards with more powerful hardware.

Exactly plus this dev is first party and should have the PS4 doing backflips and somersaults with the tech by now. This is unacceptable especially when u have a first game like Driveclub already doing this. Unacceptable.

Forza didn't have dynamic weather or lighting in its first xbox one game either. Actually it doesn't in the latest version either- but it does have fixed weather and lighting.

Driveclub is 30 FPS lock. Devs of this game have said they're shooting for 60.

It's not that they can't do it. Different dev team, different priorities.

Project Cars would have been a better example, as it is 60 FPS (at least most of the time).

Not really excited about this one. It seems like with the longer development cycle, the GT series should be doing better.

This is what I don't understand, if these games can do it, dynamic weather and time, why can't GT and Forza?

                          Disappointing.

But I'm sure that at some point after release, I'll add this to my collection of games.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Games like Project Cars are aimed to be more hardcore racing sims. The devs at an early point made the decision that they had to have dynamic weather and lighting to be realistic sims. Regardless of the cost of graphics in other areas.

I would not say Project Cars is the best looking game on consoles, especially compared to playing it on PCs.
