    WRC7

Anyone else pick this one up yet ?

I downloaded it last night in a moment of weakness. (AKA after a few drinks)

It actually seems like a decent upgrade from WRC6 so far.

Modes and such are about the same....The improvement is on the track.

It looks way better graphically and the cars seem to handle better...I feel like I can be more aggressive with the car.

I'm hearing and reading nothing but positives about this title. Major upgrade in graphics and physics.

My copy arrives Monday. But I'm out of town all week and next weekend for work. So keep the feedback coming, Rich! Thanks.

I’m trying to decide between this game and the remaster of Baja Edge of Control. That new hunting game looks interesting as well. Too many games too little time.

        Re: WRC7

Just moved up to WRC 2 level in career mode.

Still feeling good about the physics and graphic improvements.

There is a "media" tab now on the "paddock" screen between sessions...that has text and email similar to how MXGP 2 was done.

I did one online race and it was ok...The other guys are ghosts as you would expect with a rally game...It was humbling to see how slow I am vs. the other real people..lol

One of the things I like with this one is the amount of impact good throttle control has.

Thanks for some of the feedback, Rich. Picked this up at lunch today (along with Forza 7), have been out of town the last two weeks on vacation... I forgot Fm7 was coming out.

I actually liked WRC 6 (wasn't great, but fun)... so it's good to hear that it is improved over that one. Can only make it better, right?

Really? Dirt Rally was pretty darn good, imo. Dirt 4 is, meh. I like it ok, but just not pumped to play it like I was Dirt Rally.

I have had to work late the last two nights, and FM7 won out Tuesday night (just too much curiosity), and as an Astros fan - the Yankees/Indians game won out last night - plus I was downloading GTSport demo. . .

It's laundry night so WRC7 tonight.

What makes WRC7 the pinnacle now?

I’m interested in buying this game. But before doing so, can someone please let me know if I were to play this wth a gamepad, does the control schemes allow for D-pad steering, or is the steering control restricted to analog stick? Thank you.

                    Re: WRC7

I'm finally sinking my teeth into WRC 7, and I can't think of a title in a gaming franchise that is more improved. I didn't play WRC 6, but WRC 7 is MILES better than WRC 5.

This is THE rally game to play right now. Far tougher than WRC 5 but not nearly as punishing as DIRT Rally. WRC 7 is the true spiritual successor to the Colin McRae franchise -- accessible but still challenging. And the fact it has the full WRC license for cars, drivers and stages is the proverbial frosting on the cake.

My only changes to the default setup are to change the view to the hood cam, the co-driver's directions to detailed, steering dead zone to 0 and steering sensitivity to 35. The cars sashay too much with the default Xbox controller configuration, but that's easily fixed. I still may tweak those dead zone and controller sensitivity settings a bit, but I'm very close to optimum.

This is a MIGHTY fun game. The WRC series now stands shoulder to shoulder with Codemasters' DIRT series. A true rival and equal in every way, and even exceeding it in some.

Thanks for the impressions. And agree, after playing this game a bit I am digging the difficulty level. Way more forgiving than Dirt Rally, whilst still being a good challenge. The stages are really well done also: some are wide, and some are narrow and then some are, well, somewhere in between. Which is what I would imagine they would be in real life.

That's because these ARE real stages from the WRC. One of the many advantages of the official license.

This game is intense in a good way.

With no "flashback" option it adds a level of "stress"

Your near the end of a long stage and drop a wheel off the ledge and roll the car like 5 times.....been there done that...lol

You really have to manage not only the condition of the car and tires but also how hard you press on each stage.

WRC games are typically good with gamepad, you should do fine.

I know they are modeled after the real stages... I understand they have the WRC license - I guess I wasn't clear in my post. The WRC games have had the license (if it has WRC on the cover - they have the FIA WRC license...), but previous games, ie., WRC 5 had really wide stages - almost all of them were really wide.

All I was meaning was that I'm sure there is vast variations of road width in real life, which they tried to implement, at least to some degree, in the game.
