Which Game for pure OFFLINE play?

I was really excited about Gran Turismo coming back but everything I've read says it's really an online game and I'm looking for the best racing game that's purely offline

I only own GT-Sport. From what I have read F-1 has best career mode.

I bought GT Sport this year because it looks awesome...and it is awesome, but almost wholly online.

I was also looking for a good single-player, offline option. Project Cars 2 looks pretty deep, but I've fallen hard for F1 2017. The goal of career is wholly different from other racing game goals, where it's basically win or go home. With my car in F1, I'm really learning how it handles and the ins-and-outs of it. My weekly goal is basically to finish in the top 15 and do better than my teammate. And it's taught me to love a whole new sport.

It's my favorite single-player career mode in a sports game, period.
      Currently Playing:
      GT Sport (PS4)
      MLB The Show 20 (PS4)
      Apex Legends (PS4
      Breath of the Wild (Switch)
Out of the Park Baseball 20

        Guys, thanks for replying.

Let me clarify a bit. I don't even know if I need to run a "career mode". I just want to race offline and collect/manage cars while only racing against CPU drivers.

I thought F1 demo was fantastic but I like to see different types of cars.

Gran Turismo for PS3 was my last and favorite car racing game. I was gutted when I heard GT Sport was mostly online.

I'll add my vote for F1 2017, haven't had this much fun in a racing career mode ever. I also bought Project Cars 2, but have only spent about 3 hours playing it since launch. It's another patch or 3 away from getting a lot of my time. Steered clear of GT Sport as I hardly ever play online unless it's Rocket League or Battlefield

It sounds like, if you want car collecting and different kinds of cars...if you had Xbox, Forza would be the go-to.

If you have a Switch, Gear.Club Unlimited might scratch that itch (though the $50 price tag is a bit steep).

And Project Cars 2 also has a good variety.

I think Need for Speed also has a lot of different cars available, and is more arcadey.

Plenty to do offline in NASCAR Heat 2.

Quick races in all 3 divisions (Camping World, Xfinity and Monster Energy).
              Split screen racing.
Race for just the Championship in all 3 divisions.
              30 different Challenges to achieve.
Race a full career in all 3 divisions.
              Etc.

Might want to reconsider GT Sport now:

I can't believe this! OMG. I just spent 90 dollars on PC2 but my heart had always been with GT

How could they do this to me?
