Never understood by they didn’t change release to prior to Daytona for new games...not updates. Probably going to hold off on this for awhile.

I thought it said we would be able to continue our existing careers with the 2018 update, but that doesn't appear to be the case. I switched to 2018 and it reset all my speed points and speed ratings for all tracks in each series and when I enter career, it starts a brand new career instead of continuing my existing one in which I just finished my 4th season.

EDIT: Or maybe I just misinterpreted what it said when I read it the first time.

Yeah, the 2018 update resets pretty much everything. Even your trophy progress (ex: "win XX number of races") is reset, so for example if you raced 99 races in 2017, the next race wouldn't count towards 100 if you race on the 2018 update. But you could still go back to 2017 and pick up that last race if you wanted.
