Sign & Trade Exception Rules & Guidelines

Everyone, this is my plan for us implementing a Sign & Trade Exception going forward. I believe the rules are both fair and balanced. Please give me some feedback and let me know what you guys think.

Sign & Trade Exception

The ability to make a trade for a player during the season and immediately sign him to a long-term contract.

The Rules Are As Folllows:

1. The sign & trade exception can only be used ONCE per season on ONE player. This means that if you have a multi-player deal, you may only use your sign & trade exception on one player in that deal and that's it.

2. The player being signed and traded for must be on the last year (1 year left) of his current contract.

3. There will be a spot on everyone's spreadsheet that says: Sign & Trade Exception, underneath that heading is where you will be required to list the name of the player that you used your exception on for that season. You should also document who you are using your sign & trade exception on in the Roster Movement thread when you announce your trade. Failure to follow these guidelines will result in team cap penalties.

4. Any player being signed & traded for must be at or under an 85 overall. This will prevent people from swapping "elite-tier superstar" players who are on the last year of their contracts in order to buck the Free Agency system.

Good stuff. I really like number 4 though.

Re: Sign & Trade Exception Rules & Guidelines

Thanks guys! Yeah sb24, I honestly even thought about making it an 85 overall, but I bumped it up to 89. If you guys feel that's too high, it can be adjusted.

I think 85 OVR is better than 89 cause with how the ratings are spread over more of a range, 85 is a solid starter at the least and can evolve into an elite player quick.

OK, I wouldn't have a problem with that. I'll see what everyone else says and then we can go from there. Thanks for the feedback!

I agree with Heavy. 85 is better. Great job on the rules.
