Re: Hawks Total Access

Hawks lose another one at home to the Eagles 21-14

We got lucky early one when Trufant stepped in front of a Michael Vick pass and picked it off, however the Eagles defense stepped up to hold us to only a field goal. That was our best chance to score in the first half and we didn't take advantage of it cause the Eagles defense was dominant. Michael Vick started to complete passes and LeSean McCoy broke off some good runs to give them a 14-6 lead at the half. When Whitehust wasn't getting sacked (he was sacked 5 times), he was completing passes to Sidney Rice who 5 receptions for 156 yards and a 72 yard TD to tie the game.

In the 4th, the Eagles drove down the field and Vick finished off the drive with a 5 yard TD run to make the score 21-14. We drove the field late in the game, but Marshall Lynch couldn't gain three yards on four attempts and we were shut out from the endzone and the Eagles ran out the clock to leave Seattle with a 21-14. GG Dubb, next week we're hosting the Rams and we really need to win.

The 2011 Seattle Seahawks: A Tale of Two Seasons

The season started with a bang (pause) with Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett combining for over 200 yards, but 200 yards from Frank Gore and 5 Tarvaris Jackson INT's resulted in the Hawks losing the opener to the 49ers 33-27 (and led to Jackson losing his job and riding the bench for the rest of the year). Seattle rebounded with a 26-7 victory over the Steelers; the defense forced 5 INT's and 5 sacks with Earl Thomas getting 3 of his 11 INT's for the year. In week 3, the Seahawks took on and beat the eventual NFC West Champion Arizona Cardinals 36-21 on Charlie Whitehurst's 2 TD passes and 254 passing yards.

After losing to the high-powered Atlanta Falcons, the Seahawks scored 2 straight wins, two close games against the Giants and the Browns. In one of the most exciting games of the year against the Bengals, we fell behind 24-0 in the 2nd quarter but somehow got 10 points before the half to stay in the game. Fast forward to the 4th quarter where the score was 31-17, this is where Whitehurst got hot with TD passes to Sidney Rice (who had 9 for the year) and Zach Miller (who had 7 for the year). An Earl Thomas INT late led to the game winning field goal and a great win for the Hawks.

The next game at Dallas almost topped this one, as we erased a TD deficit late and a converted a 2 point conversion to take an one point late, but it wasn't to be as Dez Bryant made a big play and put the Cowboys in position to kick the game winning field goal. The Hawks rebounded from this loss and a loss against the Ravens to take on the division rival Rams. We played very well with Whitehurst throwing for over 200 yards and Lynch had over 100 yards on the ground. Stephen Jackson almost stole the game away from us, but 4 Sam Bradford picks kept St. Louis from winning with the final score being 24-16.

This is where fortune turned against and we went into a tailspin; 3 close losses all at home to the Redskins, Eagles, and Rams killed the momentum we had and killed our playoff chances. Our season ended with a thud with 3 blowout losses to the Bears, 49ers and Cardinals to make our final record for the year 6-10.

Key performers:

  • Charlie Whitehurst had his best season as a pro with 2400 yards, 17 TD, 16 INT and an 87.6 QB rating
  • Marshawn Lynch broke out with 1,190 yards on the ground and 13 TD's
  • Justin Forsett had over 500 yards rushing and receiving with 5 TD's
  • Sidney Rice caught 46 passes for 1,225 yards and 9 TD's
  • Zach Miller caught 30 passes for 606 yards and 7 TD's
  • Brandon Mebane had 8 sacks
  • David Hawthrone led the team with 67 tackles
  • Mark LeGree played well before suffering a season ending injury half way through the year with 30 tackles and 3 INT's
  • Brandon Browner had 7 INT's
  • Marcus Trufant bounced back from injuries to get 9 INT's
  • Earl Thomas was our team MVP with 48 tackles and 11 INT's

The year didn't end well, but with a lot of the key guys coming back and an off-season to improve the team, there is no doubt that everyone here is committed to building a winner; look for the Seahawks to compete and beat the best in 2012 and beyond....

I hope you guys enjoyed reading this and the other posts on Hawks Total Access and we'll see you in Season 2!

Re: Hawks Total Access

Seahawks win their Season Opener in Overtime 27-24 over the improved Browns

(Sidney Rice had a great game by catching 9 passes for 164 yards and 2 TD's)

The Seahawks had their critics after a trade that moved the Hawks down the draft board where they picked up QB Clay Harris. Clay Harris, according to the scouts was "a great thrower of the football" but also said "my grandma's my mobile" and "Harris is brittle like china ware". However, Clay Harris proved the naysayers wrong by throwing for 380 yards and 3 TD's. The Browns were the first ones to strike with a much improved passing game getting in a groove with Matt Schaub throwing a 60 yard TD to rookie DeMarcus Miles. While we were able to move the ball on our first drive, it only resulted in 3 points.

We played better in the 2nd quarter by getting a turnover and two Clay Harris TD's to Sidney Rice and Mike Williams gave us the edge at the half 17-10. The defense stepped up by forcing 3 INT's (LeGree, Thomas and Browner each got a pick), getting 3 sacks and holding Peyton Hillis to 42 yards rushing on 12 carries. With help from Lynch and Forsett who gained 77 yards combined on the ground, Harris found Rice on a fade route for another TD to make the score 24-10. We felt we had a comfortable two touchdown lead but vaughn removed that comfort zone by scoring twice, once as the 4th quarter expired (both scores went to Miles) to tie the game up and send it to overtime.

In overtime, we got the ball first but punted. Cleveland punted back to us and Harris drove down the field to set up a game winning kick by Steven Hauschka to help us win the opener 27-24. GG to vaughn, those Browns will definitely improve upon last year. Next week we have our rival, Twosilk and the St. Louis Rams.

Re: Hawks Total Access

Seahawks **** themselves in the 2nd Quarter to lose 45-17 to the Rams

(Stephen Jackson ran wild with 132 yards and 2 TD's)

An Earl Thomas pick in the endzone and a 51 yard TD pass to Rice gave the Hawks a 7-0 lead after one quarter. However, Silk went on a crazy run with 2 touchdowns from Stephen Jackson ans 2 Sam Bradford TD passes (all in the 2nd quarter). We couldn't keep up because we turned over the ball twice and failed to score until it was too late as St. Louis stuck the nail in the coffin with a 83 yard TD pass to Donnie Avery to beat us 45-17. GG to Silk, we'll come back ready to play next week against the Cowboys.

Re: Hawks Total Access

Seahawks come back late to beat Cowboys 37-34

(Forsett celebrating his TD run to tie the game to go along with 125 yards on the ground)

There were a lot of twists and turns in this game. Both teams combined to score 38 points in the 1st quarter alone with Romo and Harris throwing 2 TD's each. Dallas added another score in the 2nd quarter to make the score 28-17 at the half. Dallas didn't have any problems early moving the ball and added a field goal to make the score 31-17.

Behind by 2 touchdowns, we decided to step our game and rally with Harris throwing a perfect pass for his 3rd touchdown of the game (he also had 380 yards passing) to Mike Williams. The defense forced Dallas to go three and out. The running backs had broken some big plays and combined to run for 217 yards with Forsett gaining 85 yards to tie the game up at 34. Romo drove the Boys down the field but threw a pick to Earl Thomas which set up us for a Steven Hauschka game winning field goal to improve our record to 2-1. Despite Dallas dominating the time of possession battle and with us not converting a single third down the entire game, we found a way. GG to Macaroni, next week we look forward to building on this win by playing the 49ers.

Re: Hawks Total Access

Hawks go winless against the 49ers so far in the SFL

( A random 49er player celebrating the victory)

The Hawks made a lot of mistakes and the Niners revealed some problems with the Hawks. Clay Harris missed a few passes and threw a 3 picks in his worst outing so far in his career. The running game was stuffed early so our offense sputtered all day long. The Niners ran well and passed well with Vernon Davis having a big day. Clay threw a TD late to Mike Williams to make the score more respectable but the there were too many bad passes, bad pass blocking and poor pass defense which led to our demise. GG to Spawn.
