I feel like this is what adds a level of "agent/player" to the negotiations. If one of the 3 options doesn't work for your team, you can't resign the player. For instance, for me -- P Hillis is under contract for the rest of the year for 300K (hahaha), but if I want to resign him, it'll cost me 5m+ whether I want to sign him for 1 yr, 3 yrs or 5yrs (the bonus waivers a little bit). Sure LM is just using his OVR to create that number, but it's as good a place as any to start -- he's worth 5m/yr for me to resign, if he went into FA there's a chance he'd get more (or less, depending).

Re: Contract negotiations

I would like to work Ngata's real contract into this somehow.

He just signed a five year extension in which in the first two years he's going to get 40 mil. OUCH. How can this work? I'm not sure what the remaining three years of the deal will be but the first two has him grossing 40 mil.

if you want to i can put his new contract in at about 11million a season, starting now, or you can take your chances with the LM resign process your call.

as far as i know we are using LM for resigns, that way they will be universal, and we wont be rewarding you math majors, who can be using the cap to your advantage, everyone will use LM.

so then you will probably just look at the salary cap and adjust the salary cap up 3-10% each year just like the NFL does?
