Re: Minnesota Vikings
DRUBBED!
Minneapolis, MN
Week 5
Arizona Cardinals (3-2) 49 v. Minnesota Vikings (3-2) 14
"Embarrassing!" Star runningback Adrian Peterson said. "There's no reason that should happen, especially at home in front of the home crowd. We can't make excuses about what happened today, we just gotta put it behind us, and get ready for Chicago."
The Arizona Cardinals came into the Metrodome, and had complete control of the game from the kickoff, forcing the Vikings into an early 3-n-out, and scoring on 48 yard pass from K. Kolb to C. Stuckey, and from the point on, they never looked back, forcing the Vikings to have 3 turnovers (all interceptions by D. McNabb) and getting their offense the ball continously. The Cardinals were 5-9 on 3rd down, while the Vikings were 3-13.
Donovan McNabb said, "We just gotta do a better job of taking of the ball, and quit leaving our defense on the field to dry."
The Minnesota Vikings gave up 431 passing yards, while McNabb was benched late in the 3rd for rookie QB Christian Ponder, who came in and threw for a TD.
The impact of Ponder and rookie TE Kyle Rudolph have many fans in Minnesota questioning whether they should start the rebuilding process now, and start going young.
"It's too early in the season to say, and it's just one game. We are 3-2, with a possibility of being 4-1 when this day started, so let's not get into that right now. We just have to focus on what went wrong in this game, and go from there, and you know hopefully we can correct those mistakes next week at Chicago," Head Coach Leslie Frazier said.
One of the biggest problems this week for the Vikings was the inability to establish the run game. Last week against the Chiefs they rushed for 201 yards, Peterson having 175 of those. This week against the Cardinals, they rushed for 126, Peterson only having 42 before sustaining a dislocated wrist injury.
Peterson said, "Give credit to the Cardinals. They played extremely well today, we couldn't develop a passing game, which hurt the rushing game, and in today's league, you can't have that happen."
In Peterson's absence, Toby Gerheart rushed for 45 yards on 5 carries.
"Next week we have Chicago, and it won't be any easier, especially on the road. So we're just gonna focus on them right now."

(Notes) Today was the first time former Eagles QB's, Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb faced off.
