Browns Get Huge Win in Steel City
Roethlisberger's 4 INTs Helps Browns Struggling Offense

Ben Roethlisberger challenged Joe Haden all day, which led to 2 interceptions

This game is what is symbolic of AFC North football. The passing game is pretty and flashy and all of that stuff, but the later in the season is when we'll see more defensive chess matches and things of that nature.

This was a trap game for the beloved Browns, with all the trash talk coming from the Cincinnati Beengirls, it would've been difficult to focus on this game, and early it was apparent the focus wasn't there.

The first half was terrible for the Browns as they allowed the Steelers the deep bombs to Emmanuel Sanders and The Mike Wallace. With less than a minute to go in the half and trailing 14-10, Brandon Weeden tried to march his commrades down field, but ended up throwing an interception to Will Allen. Then on the very next play Ben Roethlisberger threw an interception to Joe Haden. The Browns got the ball and drove down to the 3 yard line, where the Browns decided to go for the touchdown instead of a field goal. David Gettis caught the ball in what appeared to be the endzone, but the refs marked him down at the 1.

The second half was a different story, rookie first round pick Antwon Russell caught 2 interceptions, including the game winning pick six as he outran Jonathan Dwyer 90 yards for the score to put his team up 28-14.

Ben Roethlisberger then marched his team down the field to score, and for the second week in a row Madden didn't let me jump to catch a late interception in the endzone just to make the score look respectable.

For those wondering, reigning defensive player of the week Terence Newman did not catch any interceptions, although he dropped what would've been a pick six in the fourth quarter.

Stats:
Brandon Weeden 21/35 249 Yards 1 TD 2 INTs
Trent Richardson 13 Carries 94 Yards 1 TD
Travis Benjamin 4 Catches 85 Yards 1 TD
Joe Haden 8 Tackles 2 INTs
Antwon Russell 3 Tackles 2 INTs 1 TD

Browns Overcome Division Rival Bengals
Richardson Scores 2 TDs as Browns Come From Behind

Trent Richardson hit pay dirt twice today

"We're a dangerous bunch, the longer you let us stay in the game, the more dangerous we become." - Brandon Weeden

After a week full of trash talk from both sides, it was finally time to strap up and play football and the Browns didn't disappoint. Although the offense was lethargic and the defense was downright awful, the Browns found a way to catch 4 interceptions and score 31 points.

After the first quarter the Bengals led 7-3 after a 58 yard pass to tight end Jermaine Gresham. Also, with 40 seconds left in the first half Cincy led 14-6. But a Leon Washington kick return touchdown just seconds later sent the game 14-13 going into the half.

After three quarters, the Browns led 16-14 after kicker Alex Henery's third field goal of the game.

"Had to unleash Brandon's arm. They had safety help on Travis all game, so we had to get him the ball underneath and he feasted on the linebackers they continued to put on him" said Coach Mitch.

The Bengals completed a 6 yard touchdown pass to Mohamed Sanu to take a 21-16 lead even though Rashean Mathis was in perfect position, and Madden didn't let me react to pick it off (the third week in a row it's happened). But Brandon Weeden answered right back marching his guys down the field and Trent Richardson scored on a draw from 5 yards out and Travis Benjamin caught the 2 point conversion to go up 24-21. After Andy Dalton's 4th interception of the day, this one to Joe Lefeged, Trent Richardson scored from 2 yards out to put the Browns ahead 31-21.

Stats:
Brandon Weeden 11/23 191 Yards
Trent Richardson 22 Carries 75 Yards 2 TDs
Zach Miller 4 Catches 55 Yards
TJ Ward 11 Tackles (2 TFL)
Joe Haden 5 Tackles 1 INT
Jabaal Sheard, Joe Lefeged & Terence Newman1 INT Each

Browns Defense Leads Team to Victory
Fifth Consecutive Week with 4 Interceptions for Browns

The Browns were a step ahead of the Chiefs all day

After an early wardrobe malfunction when the Browns weren't allowed to wear their orange jerseys (the first time they didn't wear them since last season) many believed the Browns' reign atop the AFC would come crashing down.

"Lots of people believe that our orange alt's are a good luck sign since we didn't start winning until we broke them out last year" said Brandon Weeden. "We had to reassure them that it isn't the jerseys, it's the players."

Going into this game with the Chiefs, the Browns have a nice lead in the SFL in terms of Turnover Margin and Takeaways, including intercepting the last 4 quarterbacks they've played four times each (Luck, Schaub, Roethlisberger, Dalton) and wanted to frustrate Jay Cutler into turning the ball over.

They succeeded. Rookie linebacker sensation Antwon Russell started off the pick fiesta early on, Thomas Howard returned one to the crib in the 4th quarter, and SFL pick leaders Terence Newman and Joe Haden also got in on the party.

David Gettis had his best day in a Browns uniform as he beasted on cornerback Javier Arenas today for 136 yards on 6 catches including 1 TD. For the third straight week in a row, Travis Benjamin garnered a lot of attention from the defense, but still had 145 yards, with the majority coming on an 84 yard catch and run.

The Browns harassed the Chiefs all day, but next week face yet another daunting challenge when the New York Jets come to town led by Mark Sanchez and Stephen Hill.

Stats:
Brandon Weeden 14/22 318 Yards 3 TDs 2 INTs
Trent Richardson 20 Carries 75 Yards
David Gettis 6 Catches 136 Yards 1 TD
Travis Benjamin 3 Catches 145 Yards 2 TDs
Ahtyba Rubin 5 Tackles 2 QB Tackles
Joe Haden, Antwon Russell, Thomas Howard & Terence Newman 1 INT Each

Browns Lose First Game of Season to Jets
Defense Falls Asleep, Lets Stephen Hill Run Wild

Rashean Mathis was no match for the great Stephen Hill

"Coming in, we knew they wanted to get the ball to Stephen Hill, but we didn't stop it at all." - Coach Mitch

After an improbable 6 game winning streak to begin the season, the Browns were brought back down to Earth. On tap this week was one of the SFL's best passing connections: Mark Sanchez and Stephen Hill. The two connected 6 times today for 145 yards and a score early in the third quarter.

Although Sanchez threw 2 early interceptions, he calmed down and led his Jets to victory on the strength of his 5 touchdown passes.

"Great things happened today when we played zone D, we got abused playing man," explained Coach Mitch. "I take full responsibility for this loss. When the zone was working like it was with multiple coverage sacks and forced fumbles on Sanchez, we gotta stick with it. I tried to fix something that wasn't broken."

The Browns running game continued to suffer mightily as Trent Richardson had 11 carries for 30 yards and the Browns lost faith in their running back early in the game.

"We became one dimensional, and for a great defense like that, that's like taking candy from a baby."

Although Weeden had 2 interceptions, he completed 64% of his passes for 369 yards and a score.

Stats:
Brandon Weeden 22/34 369 Yards 1 TD 2 INTs
Trent Richardson 11 Carries 30 Yards 3 TDs
Braylon Edwards 5 Catches 85 Yards
Travis Benjamin 6 Catches 128 Yards 1 TD
Antwan Applewhite 4 Tackles 2 QB Tackles

Good game mitch. Weeden woke up in that 4th quarter. With a little more time our game would of played out in O.T.

Great game man! I was pretty hurt on that third down you got to clinch the game, wanted to see if Weeden could march the troops, but oh well. Those two picks I threw, especially the one you caught in the flats were the nail in the coffin. Look forward to hopefully seeing you in the playoffs if I can get that far

Browns Lose Second Straight Game
Ravens Defense Frustrates Browns Offense Early

Jacoby Jones styled on the Browns Defense all day

"To be honest, it felt like we were playing defense the whole game. The drops, short runs, everything. I don't remember the offense being on the field much today. They held the ball for 26 minutes, we had it for less than 14. Unacceptable." - Coach Mitch

After starting slow but finishing strong last week against the Jets, the Browns knew that another slow start would play hand in hand with another loss. The Ravens came out first and Joe Flacco hit Jacoby Jones with a 61 yard catch and run which led to a touchdown.

Brandon Weeden came out on his first drive and found David Gettis for a 73 yard pass which led to a touchdown.

For the Browns, everything after that was a mystery. Weeden had an "okay" 11/20 performance with 1 TD and no turnovers, but was hardly ever on the field. The Ravens with their clock controlling offense frustrated the Browns' defense all day and guys were tired for the majority of the game. The Browns struggled especially on third down defense where they allowed Baltimore to convert seven times.

The Browns have made a name for themselves for forcing turnovers, but the Ravens didn't get that memo as neither team forced a single turnover today.

The Browns offense did show signs of life on their last drive when they were down 24-10 and marched down the field quickly and got a touchdown on a pass to Braylon Edwards, but when it was time for the defense to lock down and get the ball back; they failed for the second week in a row and Baltimore ran the ball and ran the clock out.

Stats:
Brandon Weeden 11/20 228 Yards 1 TD
Trent Richardson 10 Carries 30 Yards 1 TD
Braylon Edwards 2 Catches 46 Yards 1 TD
David Gettis 5 Catches 127 Yards
D'Qwell Jackson 7 Tackles (3 TFL) 1 QB Tackle
