Bear Down - Season 2

Chicago Bears
SFL 13 Season 2
Current Record (0-0)

Major Wright recently signed a four year deal as he develops into a pro bowl caliber talent at SS.

The Chicago Bears spent the Season 2 offseason addressing some issues that spoiled their promising first half of the season.

In the free agent market, they picked up LE pass rush specialist Osi Umenyiora to help take some off the attention off of RE Julius Peppers. The Bears are looking for these two to team up with Henry Melton and wreak havoc in the pass rushing game in Season 2.

The Bears also added savvy veteran Nate Clements to the secondary, and have moved him to start at the FS position on a one year deal. They also brought in Terrence McGee and Tracy Porter to solidify their defensive backfield.

Chicago added Danny Woodhead as a receiving / third down speed back, and brought in Joshua Cribbs as yet another dynamic offensive specialist to this explosive offense.

In a shocking move to some, the Bears added Kellen Moore, a stud QB from Boise State as they dealt Jay Cutler and his expiring contract, along with DJ Moore to the Chiefs and brought in a talented rookie QB in Lonnie Scott, a third round draft selection in 2014, and stud RG Jon Asamoah.

Season 2 Draft:

Coach Quazi and the Bears staff had an extremely productive draft, bringing in stud CB Adrian Linder out of Alabama (88 mcv, 97 spd), starting LG Demetrius Brooks (Quick Progression), starting WR Dondi Walker (98 acc), and solid backups and future starters at MLB, ROLB, and FS.

Rookie CB Adrian Linder will see some time in the nickle and dime this year, the Bears are hoping he can develop into a #1 or #2 option in Season 3.

Coach Quazi truly believes that the product they have put on the field for this season will be more competitive in Season 2, but the future is extremely bright as these young players develop over the next year or two.

Bottomline Prediction - (11-5) Playoff Birth

Re: Bear Down - Season 2

Bears 1-1 after Two Games

Chicago finds themselves at 1-1 heading to a pivotal matchup against the upstart Denver Broncos in week three. As most games in the NFL are, Coach Quazi sees this game as a must win.

The Bears were in control of their first game vs. the Vikings, but a fumble at the MIN four yardline by Jake Ballard, followed immediately by a touchdown run of 80 yards from AP knotted the game up at 10-10, rather than a 17-3 Bears lead early in the 3rd quarter, which could have effectively ended the game with the lack of passing attack from Minnesota.

In game two, the Bears found some decent consistency late in the ballgame, but still played a very ugly football game. They are looking for more development and consistency on both the offensive and defensive lines in the early part of the season.

The Bears defense has been excellent against the pass, however the run defense has been equally as soft as the pass defense has been great. In hopes of making some adjustments, the Bears released the unproductive Israel Idonije, whom they hoped could make the move from DE to DT alongside star Henry Melton.

Taking his place will be the ever powerful Shaun Rodgers. The 34 year old vet is coming off of injury issues which he hopes are in his past for one or two solid years against the rush on the interior of this Bears defense. Spelling him will be a very promising rookie DT Malcolm Chester as well as third year player Stephen Paea.

Kellen Moore has been playing excellent football, but has been given little help as the receiving core has made a lot of drops (seven drops in week 2) as well as throwing some costly INTs on very well thrown passes, which the opposing DBs made incredible over the shoulder leaping catches.

The Bears will be without Brandon Marshall for six weeks, after suffering a broken clavicle against the Chargers from being tackled in the knees from behind by a cornerback (weak injury, Madden). The bright side of this injury is that the Bears are loaded with great pass catching threats all over their offense.

Look for the continued evolution of this Bears offense, and its many nuances, personnel, and formations.
