Front Office News

Inspite of the what the "pre-season" record reflects, in the words of A.I. "Its only practice". Coach Hulk and his staff have made moves and are still negotiating with teams to get what they set out for in order to turn this program around. Coach Hulk feels confident in knowing that we have added as well as released players with "Incognito Syndrome". Simply put. We will not tolerate over paid and under achieved players on this team.


Our first test will come against the Jets of New York. We have a new offensive look from last season although it wasn't shown primarily in the pre-season with the exception of Jags game. Alex Smith threw over 200 yards in just over one quarter versus the Jaguars. We felt good about that. We have plays designed for the aggressive blitzes and the such like and as always we welcome them; says Travis Benjamin (1700 yard reciever season one).

We gave QB Brandon Weeden the start of this game and he performed well finishing with 117.3 QB Rating while Alex Smith threw for 2 TDs in the second half. WR Jacoby Jones had 96 yards receiving and 2 TD. Over all we were pleased on both sides of the ball. I know what Travis Benjamin can do but this game was about team distribution. We wanted as many players on the offensive side of the ball to get touches.

On the defensive side of the ball Paul Kruger had a resurgence of a game recording 8 tackles and 1 TFL while OSLB Mingo led the defense overall with 9 Tackles, 1 sack, 1 Int, 1 Defensive Touchdown. FS Bethea and SS T.J. Ward kept the run in check. The Jets were able to pass for 300 yards which 200 yards of it came in the 4th qtr (crazy).

Browns protects the House against Steele Curtain 17-14 grudge match - The Dawgs are 2-0

Big Ben was sacked 4 times, picked off twice in this hard hittin AFC North Battle. Rookie LE Gutierrez had two critical sacks in the 4th as the steelers tried to overcome the 3 point deficit. The Warden picked off Big Ben in the end zone early in the fourth quarter. But todays MVP belongs to Rookie Cornerback Devon Neal, 3 tackles, 1 sack, 1 pick. He performed like a vet today said coach Hulk; especially in a game of this magnitude. Alex Smith was brought in midway through the 1st quarter due to Brandon Weedens poor start. Weeden was sack 3 times in the 1st quarter. It was as though he couldn't release the ball so we had to pull him. Paul Kruger, Marvin Austin were anchors to our improved front 4 on the d line as they kept the run on lock only giving up 29 rushing yards.
