It affected it pretty good. The problem was the CPU logic (of when to kick instead of punt) and the CPU accuracy being close to 100%. I also found that long field goals in the 50 to 55 yard range were too hard to reach the uprights for most kickers which isn't right either. To kick a field goal over 50 yards, you needed max power just to reach it.
