Bergie, I'm having the same issues and I don't think it is the disk. I went and rented Madden to see and get the same errors. If I have been reading right, most of the older XBOXs have Thompson DVD drives which might be where the problem is. I bought my XBOX on release day so I think this may be it. A few other games are having problems like this, and others are running fine. Somebody here said that this happens with EA games on older XBOX. Ghost Recon 2 is also doing it.

You can read up a bit on it here. I guess I'm going to try and use a DVD cleaner and see if that helps. Might just have to live with it until the 360 gets here. Not going to go buy another XBOX at this point.
